Would appreciate any info on the following car before restoration begins. Bought from Switzerland a decade ago, unknown history before this. Ch # 14799 Eng # 0088 Any and all replies would be greatly appreciated. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
14799: Original exterior color: Rosso Nearco 2.664.032. Original interior color: Beige VM 3218. New to Garage Francorchamps SA, Brusses, Belgium. Sold to first owner Mr. Beaumaine, Belgium. Later with Tiebo Vos in Pully, Switzerland for many years (1980s). Marcel Massini
Thank you Marcel, much appreciated. Good to have some essential basic info before starting the restoration. Hans S
Not the right color, this car has been resprayed several times, needs alot of work. Original color example would be nice, never heard of Nearco before..
Rosso Nearco is a dark, nonmetallic red. It's difficult to capture in photos and can appear markedly different under various lighting conditions. To illustrate, here are a number of pics of my old GTE (4289GT), which was repainted in Rosso Nearco by Skip McCabe. I've also seen it on a C4 (where it is much more appropriate) and think it's a fantastic color for that car. Nearco C4s, 15625 and 15809: Ferrari 365 GTC/4 Registry Viewer: 15625 Ferrari 365 GTC/4 Registry Viewer: 15809 Again, this is a color that's difficult to capture with photographs and it often appears to be brighter in pics than in reality.
Rosso Nearco 2.664.032 and 365 GTC/4 Coupés: A total of 32 units was originally painted in this color. Marcel Massini
Nice photos. Is that a decapitated Queen in the background in the 3rd photo? Where in SoCal would you find a decapitated Queen on top of a hill? lol
Yep, those are the partial remains of the Devin body once worn by 340 America chassis 0202A. The second and third images were taken at TS's old avocado ranch. By the way, there are no fewer than five different California counties represented in those nine photos.
Can't dispute the wealth of information here on FChat. Much appreciated gentleman. The original color is fantastic, not far off classic Alfa & Ferrari from the very early days. Most definately a color that suits a GTC/4. This car however has not seen its original color in a long time. Saw the car 8 years ago, faded std Corsa color on the verge of pinkish. The current owner purchased the car in 2009, including a paint job which I estimate cost about a 1000 bucks, you can use your imagination as to the results. Posted on the registry by the owner not long after the paint job. From the pictures on the registry you can see the engine bay looking close to original. WELL, it does not look like that anymore. This is what happens when you deliver your "GEM" to a crook. Distributorless electronic ignition, attempted chain change failed, waterpump drainhole filled up with araldite (lots of water in the engine), home made AC system, bent valves, blown clutch, enough excess wiring to wire a new car, assorted array of spark plugs of different make and heat range, some nice shiny trumpets, carbs leaking fuel, flattened fuel delivery pipe, blocked return fuel pipe (extra fuel filter regulator fitted), one brake hose per corner changed to braided stainless steel and the list goes on..... Apart from that, not a bad car.., most importantly, salvageable! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I own serial GTC/4 #15199 that still retains approx. 85% of its original paint...Its a dark red in color....may be the color you would like to replicate... Would someone confirm the color of my car when new? If it is the color you need for your car, I may be able to get you the exact color codes for you... Good luck in your restoration... I bought my car in 1976 when it was 4 years old and still own it today.
Marcel.... Thanks for that. I was suspecting that was it...just not positive.... Hans...should you Need an exact color match....I believe I can help. Pm when ur in need ... I'm sure I can assist... Good luck
Dear friends, First stage of the restoration underway. All parts accounted for EXCEPT.... You will see in the pictures "sideplates" funneling air to the radiator from the front grill. It would appear there should be a TOP plate to aid airflow directly to the radiator. I cannot find this in any of the parts manuals. Picture examples or help on this matter greatly appreciated. Please keep in mind that this car is an early model with single distributor. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have the 15089 and i restored it between 2010-2013. Do you still have the original distributor Magneti Marelli S129E and original air filter housing? Sorry for my poor english.... Fortunately the owner of the car was wise enough to ask and get the original parts when he purchased the car, as seen on the pics shown in the 365 GTC/4 registry before the "botched" engine work. Saw recently a posting on a used distributor for sale, horrifically high priced. The owner is very happy that he has the parts.... Hans
