Why so many 458s on the market??

Assuming a measly 50 NM increase in torque across the rev range. That alone is a huge difference that could easily be felt by any driver in any form of driving. The actual increase in torque across the rev range in the 488 is way more than 50 NM despite the intentional limit they placed in low revs. It's pointless quoting difference in 0-100 as those timings are obtained with launch control activated with everything prep to 100%. Who in the right mind does that in the real world?

 

Never used launch control. And my friends who have 458s say they have not used it either.

 

I made a cash bid on a absolutely perfect 2011 458 yesterday (list was 330k) for 132K (asking price) with 8K miles, it sold for 132K, I just wasn't the first unfortunately

 

You haven't driven a 458 if you think hitting the redline is an occasional occurrence. It is ridiculously easy to unintentionally bounce off of the rev limiter in a 458.

 

In urban driving? The extra torque of the 488 is felt at low speeds and at part throttle.

But don't worry as 1 year ago SCUD's were 80K less than now, its simply a supply & demand issue, like with 991 GT3's whose price is suddenly much lower as many are upgrading a 991 Gt3 RS

 

There may be a lot of 458s out there for sale, but surprisingly few with the "right" options for my desires. So many unsold cars don't have the LED steering wheel or suspension lifter. Not that these are critical by any means, but to me they are, given the many steep inclines I daily encounter and how quickly the engine revs. Also, every Ferrari can be spec'd to the owner's desires, which a surprisingly large number of times results in a car that only the original owner would want, especially when it comes to color combinations. And if you don't want a red or black one, the numbers are smaller still. Of course, it only takes one that perfectly matches...

I don't know, the out of warranty ones up to 2013 yes there are some 'deals', but it's all relative. If you look at 2014's with warranty left on them lower miles there were only like 14 coupes out there (Autotrader at least). I like having some warranty left so grabbed a 2014 with a year left on 3 year.

Going to take a while (years) for 488's to hit secondary in mass, so don't see too much change over the past few months. Actually surprised how strong they are holding (right options) in the US.

Grab a 458 and ENJOY IT!

 

In the USA, 458 coupes are 200k, give or take 5-10k (miles, options, condition, dealer). If you can get a 458 for 200, that's a 'deal' bc most were speced at 280k or so...I paid 200k for mine, 8000miles, red/black, sticker $287k, from a dealer (which commands more). I am happy with the buy, love the options, and I'm not looking back. Will it be cheaper in a year, yes, it will...so fckn what. What a car! Tons of power, amazing styling, and 'modern' interior. Wait as long as you'd like for prices to fall, I'll be enjoying mine now, and fck the depreciation.

+458! Most everything in life will be cheaper in a year, but none of us can ever get that year back! Enjoy your 458 as I do mine, depreciation be damned. We humans are constantly "depreciating" ourselves----we never become collectible! Fred

Yea. That's what I did 4 months ago and never looked back. In terms of depreciation I am estimating $2,25o to $2,500 a month and I am fine with that.

 

+458. And the older we get the more important this appears. I say do it now. Life is short And none us know how short.
