Off topic but a glimpse into history: cool to see a lot of historic prices for old Ferrari's below. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/vintage-ferrari-market/382162-few-more-asking-prices-golden-years-14.html
I've got some old pano's laying around, prices for stuff would blow your mind. Not as much appreciation as some of those F cars. Phil

Looks like the Hagerty prices have stabilized for now. The Arizona sales could have an impact on the next value guide. Hibernation time anyway till the weather improves in WI, April??
Sorry but you missed the point of what was said, and gone off on a tangent about how to market products. I never said that companies that don't use heritage in an effort to pump up brand enthusiasm and sales of modern cars. That is something that has gone on for decades, and is something many companies do, but thanks for sharing the obvious.
Dude, if you write crap, you write crap, irregardless how you mean it: Sorry but thats crap. And dont be so touchy about it.
No offence Simon930Berlin, but your tone is offensive. This forum is a gentlemen's one, and this is why we like it. Everyone's opinion should be respected without being insulted.
I'm certainly happy to admit I'm wrong when someone points out concrete examples of what I may have missed. Disagreeing with me and saying, "If you write crap, you write crap" is worthless. At best its rude, and does not prove anything. I'll concede that a small number of folks may purchases a 991.2 3.0 turbo, and they like it so much they may become interested in vintage Porsche, and maybe if they have the means they will buy one. However, through our PCA chapter I know many owners of water cooled Porsches who have had 987s, 996s and 997s and traded them for 997.2s, 991s, and 981s . These guys continue to trade in for the newest, quickest, easiest to drive, warranty covered Porsches, that can be easily leased or financed, be used as daily drivers, and can be serviced at a local Porsche dealer rather than find an independent shop with lots of air cooled experience. Some have become very into the brand and also purchased a Cayenne or Panamera for the family, and a GT3 for the track. Two of my friends own 991 Turbo S models and neither are interested in purchasing vintage 911s. So far I only know one 997.2 owner who also bought an air cooled car, but was already a collector of vintage cars. However, I think he will probably flip it as he is a big guy and so he really prefers the larger size of the 997/991. I also know some air cooled guys, and although they love the brand many have little interest in owning the modern water cooled 997s, 991s, or 991.2s. Many find them too big, too heavy, and too refined. These are guys who aren't worried about leases, financing, and they have multiple cars so that the air cooled cars don't have to be their daily drivers. One of my friends, had gone from air cooled cars to water cooled, but in the end he decided he liked the air cooled cars more and went back to a 3.3 Turbo. In the end you don't have to agree with me, but at least in our region, there do seem to be 2 distinct markets and 2 distinct buyers, modern and vintage and it appear that there is very little overlap. Again, I don't think that if the 991.2 is poorly received that it will hurt 930 market (as its already iconic), nor do I think if the 991.2 turns out to be a great car that it will drastically help the 930 market. You don't have to agree with me, but if you can't be polite, feel free to PM me and we can resolve our differences there. Now back to our regularly scheduled programming. Thats rude, and meant offensive, so talk to yourself here. And crap statements are crap statements: If you genuinely state that vintage and modern markets have nothing to do with each other, its simply not correct: Not true. Oh my. So sorry. How could I use the c word. How offensive. Should I have called it bunk, rigmarole or tomfoolery? Last I posted was to wish you all a happy new year, so if you don't mind don't school me on what you think this forum is, because I used the word "crap". Childs play.
Your initial post to me a few days ago started out saying what I have to say is crap. So I didn't think I owed your product heritage discussion, which was never an issue, more than that. However, I'll gladly say I'm sorry to try to resolve things. When you say, " so if you don't mind don't school me on what you think this forum is"? I didn't say anything about what the forum is, so I don't know what you are referring to. Yes, you wished all of us a Happy New Year (after you already told me what I have to say is crap). However, it is difficult to place much value on good wishes from a guy who previously stated what I said is crap, and then continues to say everything I say is crap, but is unwilling to provide solid examples that disprove my position. If you wish to continue to discuss this matter just PM me. Let's not let this forum turn into a personal argument.
You said my argument was stating the obvious, now you want to know what I think? Come on. All good, sorry for saying "crap". Back to 3.0's.
Some of us prefer both....i have gt2 and 76 turbo....i have witnessed the trend of all aircooled vs not, i suspect age has to do with some of it. I had the 911 turbo remote control car as a child and this was a fulfillment of a childhood dream
I had both (past tense). I had bought a 2003 GT2 and sold it 2 month later as I hated it. The only p-car I have ever sold. With all its power, throwing out its ass end on the straight away in 2nd gear with my foot fully down on the gas, just didnt do it for me. The rawness was missing and that plastic **** bumper crap always annoyed me. I would like a GT3 RS 997.2 in my garage but am afraid with my dislike for the GT2, I would be right back in the same boat. My gut tells me my 11 month old son will dream of a GT3RS like I do early Turbo's. History repeats.
Does anyone know the specifics about rear fog lights? I have a ROW 1976. COA says: Rear Fog Lamps. Car came with 2 lamps that weren't installed on the car when I got it. The car is being restored and I am curious if it should have 1 on the drivers side (car is a Left Drive) or one on each side? I have seen pictures of just 1 lamp. Any info is appreciated. Car was straight as a tack as with little more than a blemish when taken down to metal. The after-market passenger mirror was removed and filled and a hair of feathering was done on the right side quarter after a dog ran into the car 25 years ago when the 2nd owner was driving home. . Looking good... From Ryan's book: - M571 - rear fog light single light - M466 - two rear fog lights It's unfortunate that PCNA's COA does not list the option code but since it says fog lamps it is probably M466
Looks good, please share some pics when the painting process is finished. Btw: did you ever find out how many viper green 3.0 Turbo's were produced? Erik
Thanks Phil & Erik. I appreciate it. I never did learn of how many viper and or emerald green 930's 3L's were produced. I would love to know that information but I am not sure if it is or ever will be available.
