In miami in mid 70's my partner & I each had Daytona Spyders.
Mine was 16223, which recently sold at auction. The other was an earlier VIN (unknown)
It was fly yellow with tan daytonas and spoke (non wire) wheels. I heard at one point it had been a pace car at Sebring but this was never confirmed. It popped a gas line on Biscayne Blvd. in miami which caused a small engine fire that was quickly extinguished. Anyway that was it for my partner and he sold the car shortly therafter, probably 1974-5 or so. Any info on this "lost" spyder would be appreciated.

The lost Daytona has now been found and it appears is still residing in Florida

It certainly IS amazing how the community responds and the wealth of information available before the age of computer database.

Preston Henn, $wap $hop, Ft. Lauderdale/FL, owns the car since decades.
Here is 14539 at Sebring April 2003.

Would it be too much to ask if you had a photo
and can you confirm my colour guess.
Is it perhaps the same as -:
8685 Verde Medio Italver ACR 19947

    Many thanks

Two quick questions if I may:

In Marcel's photo in the Sebring pits there appears to be a cut 512BB in the parking lot behind (just above the sticker word Swap) curious to know about it, Henn actually has or had one (but black) he showed it to me when I went to his house about 20 years ago to see 6885.

More on topic, there was another genuine Daytona spyder running around south Florida at least 10 years ago, it showed up at Motorcar Gallery one day between 2002 and 2005, in dark red perhaps rosso nearco, this man was quite discreet did not take part in shows I don't think, curious about which one that could be. Ed Waterman owner of Motorcar Gallery did say it was a real spyder. Does anyone know which one that was?

    Best regards,

    Marc

Marc, this is 512 BB s/n 31975 and also belonged to Preston Henn. Here are better pics of the car, including one with the roof still intact, taken at Le Mans in 1982 after Henn had just purchased the car through Pozzi.

I took the last photo. We saw Preston Henn several times in the streets of Le Mans with his Boxer. Didn't know that this car was cut. Was a mistake and don't like them in spyder version.

Thanks El Wayne, wonder if the black cut Boxer he had was the same car: saw the black one at his seafront home with him and Al Roberts as mentioned about 20 years ago.

Giotto I must have seen it in the Le Mans paddock in 82 as well...I would not cut a Boxer but would buy one, that would be a thrilling ride despite the less than perfect handling of a typical Boxer.

    Best regards,

    Marc
