m4 vs a 612. for me you might as well compare a Honda civic to it

We own a 599 and an M4 which is my wife's DD. The M4's 0-60 seems about the same. Don't really care for its sound. Seems to turn heads with the millennials and X geners but most people don't know what it is or its capabilities. The 599 turns heads everywhere. Easier to get into, more luxurious and comfortable. My wife moved from a 7 series which felt like a boat and doesn't want to go back. They aren't cheap and can go for anywhere between $70-100K! They even have a racing version, the GTS, which go for $140 if you're able to find one.

Agreed, the 612 is streets ahead in terms of desirability, looks, sound and its a Ferrari and bespoke.

yeh no disrespect to the m4, a great performer and all. but a 612 is timeless and a religious experience. put snows on it and enjoy it 365 days a year.

I still love my e36 m3 and my e30m3 but in my eyes BMW died around 2004ish...the cars since then have no passion, no emotion

Your pretty gf w/a new outfit & some make-up, or an aging supermodel

Seriously- Are these two buyers even the same?

I would buy another E30 M3 just for collectability, but that is it. No other M3 or M4 can do it for me.

Which one do you want in 5 years, the BMW that has depreciated 50% or the 612 that has likely appreciated? Of course the BMW comes with a warranty, free service (in the US), and a dealer in every town. Still a silly comparison.

Absolutely incomparable cars - try to compare Boeing 747 to a Gulfstream 550.

The author may have his bosses fooled, but putting these 2 cars on the same page demonstrates that he shouldn't writing a car column...

I would suggest a drive in a E92 M3. Great car with a great experience.

I think the market prices these cars well. The M4 is a fantastic machine; love the power and tech. Very capable performer, too. It's the best value daily driver coupe on the market. If you're intending to rack up the miles, it's far better at it than the current lineup of lower priced aging exotics.

I agree completely. My wife was moving out of a 750iL X-Drive boat. Grandkids moved out of town so the need for a hauler just isn't there. She says the M4 is the best car she's ever owned as a DD and I've put her in some really nice cars. "Happy wife, Happy life". Reliable, fast, looker, warrantied, stealthy and comfortable. Compared to the 599-->sounds bad, visibility not as good, tight interior, DCT is utterly PHENOMENAL and acceleration is very similar but difficult to get wheels hooked up. I bet in a 0-60 real life comparison, they'd be neck and neck.

Sure beats the bus like I drive for a DD but I'm forever thankful the way I've been blessed with beautiful cars...

No doubt BMW is really nice, but still no overlap in market segment w/612- Ridiculous comparison

Now, if you all were comparing a 612 to an M6 Gran Coupe, this would be a whole different story. Still, none of the Ooh Aah factor and sounds, but what a car!

Lol who cares about the result. I have both new M4 and M3, I drive them because they are fun to drive, relatively cheap to track as well. but hell no, not gonna compare with 612 lol! that must be a joke

Good to see wisdom has prevailed in a lot of the responses I am seeing.

Ferrari is Ferrari. Not to be compared to anything else; even if it is another make from the same country of origin.

Agreed but the GranCoupe is a great car.
