I posted this in the racing section but thought I'd post it here for those that may not venture into that section.

I'm really hoping they bring the road version to display at the Rolex 24.

I saw the same yellow car at CES that was at the SEMA show but you could get literally right up next to it on a rotating stage. And, not a ton of people around it as you would guess given it's an electronic show and not a car show.

This is NOT a small car. In fact, it's pretty huge.

It has some absolutely amazing details. The tail lamps looks like they could shoot out laser beams. Some of the Carbon details are fantastic and looks gorgeous in the matte finish.

Whoever gets one will get for sure a collector car. It's not sure how well this will run on the street though. It looks like a monster.

As I understand the road/track car was built to FIA rule book size specs. It is also my understanding that when most sports cars are built they're sized not only for performance but also ease of maneuvering on city streets, parking, cabin comfort/visibility etc. Later to go racing they're fitted with larger tires, flared fenders ect. taking advantage of the larger, allowable track size dimensions however this does not always deliver the best aero numbers. With only building 200 a year my guess is Ford doesn't much care about any of that.....more it's about leaving no stone unturned with regards to aero, weight and fuel economy. Probably also the reason for the car receiving the much smaller, more compact and lighter V6 rather than V8.

I talked with someone in sales/marketing via the ford owners website. I was told that the only way to get on the list for the GT is through the application process. The information and application will be made available on the ford performance.com website. If an application is accepted, then you will continue along with the purchase process through the ford dealer of your choosing. She also said they will be showing preference to owners of ford vehicles and GT owners.

Don't know if this is true or not

Updated 2017 Ford GT Details: 720 HP, $599,695 Sticker Price, And 23 Highway MPG

Originally, Forza Motorsport 6 had stated the Ford GT would make 630 horsepower and 539 foot-pounds of torque, but per Ford the GT will make 720 horsepower, although no actual torque rating has yet been revealed.

The new American hypercar will weigh as low as 2,550 pounds and complete the standing quarter-mile in 9.4 seconds at 170 miles per hour, making it the quickest and fastest drag-racing production car in the world.

It reached a top speed of 203.48 mph at the Mulsanne Straight and 197.83 mph at the other Mulsanne side of Circuit de la Sarthe, which computes to an average top speed of 200.65 mph.

With 720 horsepower out of a 3.5-liter, twin-turbocharged 'EcoBoost' V6, the GT will possibly have the highest horsepower-per-liter ratio of any American production car.

The Ford GT will be available later this year with a manufacturer-suggested retail price of $599,695, which makes the GT the most expensive production car Ford will make.

Unfortunately the dealer does not know what he's talking about. No dealer will receive a customer allocation. It's unfortunate, but this type of dealer misinformation is common right now.

All of the above is correct.

None of the below is. Ridiculous clickbait and total fabrication on all fronts.

They are running in GTLM against the Corvettes, factory Porsches, BMW M6 and Ferrari 488.

I am heading down to Daytona tomorrow. I really hope they have a street version on display.
