Intercontinental GT race in Austin in 2017?

Watching the "12hrs of Sepang" and there was mention of a 6hr race that is trying to be organized, too soon for any news?

 

Me too. I'm getting into TV endurance racing. I want to try racing an enduro this year. It's my racing "goal" for 2016.

 

I am just thankful I found some racing, the VCR eats VHS tapes now or I would be watching a '80s F1 race. Unfortunately the Sepang race was not live and 12hrs was compressed into 1hr but what are you gonna do?

Having been to COTA for the 1st F1 race, thanks to the generosity of a few other FChat members, the track itself is worthy of an endurance race (even another 12-24hr race) in my opinion. I am not certain about all the other logistics that would be required for such a long event though.

Maybe BigTex will chime in as he has a firmer grasp on the track and it's progress.

There's a 4 Hour Blancpain race this year during the PWC race weekend at COTA. I think it's part of the new International GT Championship (Bathurst, Sepang, COTA and another one).

I often watch the Blancpain series as well yet a 6hr race was specifically mentioned but that could have just been an error and even a 4 hour race would be cool. I mentioned earlier that I think a 12hr or 24hr race would be cool yet just remembered that COTA does not the infrastructure that would allow RV's and camping inside the track like Daytona or Sebring, oh well.

 

It was a 6-hour race, and it's not gonna happen in 2016. SRO & Blancpain announced the cancellation a month before the event, while it was still on the event schedule on COTA's website. COTA hasn't commented at all.

Thanks. I was not really expecting anything until 2017 if at all.

 

Oh, it was on the 2016 schedule right up til a month before the race. COTA had a full weekend schedule up that had the 6 hour race on Saturday evening.

Just FYI if any of y'all have T1 PSL seats, the T1 stands have been shrunk and moved...
