Most of the Marelli distributor bits can be bought from Superformance: Ferrari Parts for 246, 308, 348, 355, 360 and all of the Ferrari range . Look in the 308 or 246 Dino sections as they have replicated many of the parts. The prices and quality of these items are excellent

I built this Countach inside out by hand in 3DS Max - it took over 2 years of spare time and as accurate as it looks I know it isn't 100% At one point my harddrive died and I had to pay $1500 and wait 8 months and 5 attempts to get my harddrive finally recovered.

These are the numbers which are also in the spare parts manual.
Those of the injected are different:
1221851
1221852
1221871
1221872

The Sport cams are nowhere mentioned at all.

 

Exactly, so it'll be interesting to see what ID markings they have.

 

As far as I remember they have none, even worse 2 markings for the orientation, we first had one side mounted 180 offset and obviously the engines turned but did not run...

Agree, this is already an amazing thread.

Any chance of adding some pictures of the two 'Florida' Countach being restored alongside 12144, prior to them being stripped down for repair/restoration? Would be great to see..

 

Sport cams? Where there existing also sport cams? Where they delivered on special order?

 

Interesting are maybe the three digits following the part number.
On the DD cams 051 and 052, in the FI cams 055 and 056.
What does this code mean? Has this code something to do with the profile of the cams?
Does anybody know more?

I intend to post later on some more pics about the other two cars. At the moment we are focusing on the FI.

 

These are simply the part numbers.
There are different possibilities to make Sport cams, one is to grind down the opposite of the cams to get more opening. I think there is no documentation about the hot cams the factory installed in some Special owners engines.

 

You are right! How stupid, I was just focusing to much on the detail and lost the view for the whole thing...

Have you ever compared the sport cams to the DD or FI cams?

 

Did I not see a 911 shell and a 275 gtb nose?

Really terrific and highly specialized work you are doing. Will you be providing restorations for customers 'at large' in the future?
