As an appraiser myself and knowing a little of your car I would agree that $170K is a reasonable appraisal, at this time.

Well i think I decided to sell it. i turned 55 last year and am now contemplating early retirement. I want to slim down the number of cars (and some other stuff) to simplify my life. When i purchased the car, one of our fellow enthusiasts knew about the car and wanted to buy it, but allowed me to step in and buy it. After i purchased it, I let him know he would have first right of refusal if /when i wanted to sell it. For him doing that, i may not have ever experienced the fun of owning a 930 and for that i am grateful. Well now is time and our fellow enthusiast has declined.

Over the years of my ownership, I have had many unsolicited inquires if i wanted to sell it, most stating the unique color combo as the reason they wanted it. A lot of the inquires have been thru F-Chat. Unfortunately, I cant remember all whom have inquired. I would rather sell it under the radar. if you inquired in the past and still interested (or are now interested) please shoot me a PM. If nothing happens here, i will then list it on the PCA website.

As noted above i just had the car appraised as a 2- for $170k, so this could be starting a point.

    Charles,

Lovely car, GLWS. I just turned 56 - so I totally understand, every time I have a tough go of it at work I think the same thing, sell some crap and retire.

'78 930, Beige with what appeared to be a brown(?) "Turbo" script. $120.000 ask. Only a couple exterior pictures.
Sold in a couple hours after which seller deleted text and pictures

Ah yes, I did see this. I'm not surprised it sold quickly at that price given the turbo script, assuming it was factory original.

Is the brown "Turbo" script correct? Just wondering, as I've never seen brown before.

Hi, I would like to know if anyone has experience of billy boat performance exhausts for 930s. Would you recommend and do they improve something ?

For those of you who belong to PCA, the January issue has a great article on an upcoming Comedians in Cars getting Coffee with Jerry Seinfeld and Garry Shandling that features a beige '79 930 (Sloan Cars). Article points out that Jerry and Garry were both long time friends who both owned 930's, making this upcoming episode, special.

Interesting to see that the 930 set to appear in Jerry Seinfeld's Comedians in Cars getting Coffee is another early 3.3 beige 930. Although it doesn't feature the "Turbo" script, it is one of the very few NA "non-sunroof" survivors (albeit with only one snorkel).

Thanks for posting that the video was available. Very much a Porsche Guy with his intro; “1979 Porsche 930 Turbo...it has a 3.3 liter engine mounted at the extreme rear of the car, the worst possible place, for the most possible fun!”
