Chasing a petrol smell just in the boot of my 456, I removed the tank cover and bolted on shield thinking there was a fuel leak. The smell is noticeable but not raw and it Turns out the the rubber seal on the cover has had fuel spilt on it and has a strong fuel smell. I ran the car but and pumps for a while there isn't a leak. Getting the smell out of the seal isn't easy and soap and water doesn't cut is as its a closed cell foam. Isopropyl alcohol seems to have worked and it has made the glue sticky again. The other thing that I found looking for the origine of the smell, was the tank plastic vent pipes and check valves are just flopping around in mid space, potential for a future issue. I have just put some foam under and around the pipes to support them, sorted. Image Unavailable, Please Login

I did something with my Ferrari today. I remembered there was something wrong with it, so I told my mechanic to fix it while he has it. One of the heater fans is noisy.
Good luck with that. Those heater fans have been unobtainable for about 10 years. Be careful he doesn't swap your original unit with one from a later model.
Well at least the car is being driven... And hopefully Hamilton can manage it sufficiently for it not to be smashed as will happen with Biebers, no doubt. Tell me again the BS about the super cars only being made available to long term loyal customers?
Fixed a seat belt warning light fault and almost ran my car into the back of the garage.... After repairing the wiring under the driver's seat, I put my ignition to ON to check the fasten seat belt light. It didn't come on and neither did the other warning lights, so I assumed I hadn't turned the key far enough... so turned it a little more.. and the engine turned over. Fortunately the engine stalled in reverse gear. I had forgotten to reconnect the dashboard connector which puts the warning light on. Pffft... amateur Ferrari technicians
You don't want to admit to stuffing up here mate, they jump all over you and most of them wouldn't know which end to hold a screw driver ...... one dirt road and all that ...
Actually, I was thinking of the A/C fans. The heater fan - not so huge (but very dusty, so not for you)
