That looks suspiciously like Opie with his back to us and his (television) Aunt Bea fiddling with the door handle.
Yep, but don't really understand what you meant by saying that Parravano sent it back... It was sent to Parravano in April 1952, and modified/race prepared in the US after it retired in Torrey Pines in July.

interesting that the Ferrari lettering is highlighted by painting or polishing on the cam covers. was it common on early cars or just show cars?
I have no definitive answer to your question, but here are a few more photos. Interesting to see David Brown checking out the Ferraris and hanging out with Chinetti. These fantastic images are all by Rudolfo Mailander, by the way. I'd forgotten I had these photos. This is Frankfurt in '83. https://photos.google.com/u/0/album/AF1QipNRndbCzaeKm_iPB-intjwH7AXyUt8cGiHxiZwW
I'm not sure what else to do then. I'd like very much for everyone to be able to see the pictures, but this site's administrator takes the position that one should become a member before that is possible. It takes a dazzling sort of temerity to insist that one should pay for the privilege of giving away content for free, so that's never going to happen.
250 GT SWB Speciale, s/n 3269 GT https://pp.vk.me/c627624/v627624853/fafd/30CbBwoAeyc.jpg I believe it's exhibition at the Carlo Biscaretti di Rufa Museum, Torino, Italy, April 1962. Could anyone confirm?
