I see many photos of TDF's in (what looks like) F car showrooms These "display" TDF's appear to be highly customized and well specced cars. Are they in the dealer showrooms for resale or for some other reason. If these TDF's we are seeing in the photos are for resale (all across Europe or wherever) it just kills me as they asks on these 2nd hand (but obviously new) cars will have massive premiums and guys like me can't get an allocation on a US spec TDF. Maybe my perception of the TDF's displayed in the photos is erroneous ? Maybe they are not for sale ?

Most of the pictures are posted by showroom employees on the dealership FB page.

I think everytime a car hits the floor to be delivered they post pictures. My guess is those care are not for sale. I can be wrong

Unless photo shopped (highly doubtful) the posted pictures clearly and unequivocally reflect TDF's on a dealer showroom floor. In my experience cars meant to be delivered to new owners are rarely displayed on a showroom floor. Owners pick up their steeds as soon as they are deliverable by the dealer (again thats my personal experience). I'd just like to know if these showroom TDF's are being displayed for resale. Nothing wrong with speccing a TDF for $600K Euros and then "flipping" same for $1M+ Euros. Its not illegal. I'm just asking IF all of these displayed TDF's are for sale.

I disagree. Most people work during the week, even tdf owners, and they will collect at the weekend. If you really think the blue dino was on spec........

Yeah yeah I understand the question... I don't have a clear answer. But on FB they seem so proud to show a TDF ... so I think it's a customer car they are proud to show before final delivery. But I can be wrong. Maybe they are for sale.

tortesq1- often times at my Ferrari dealership in DC they too put on the showroom floor limited edition car which have been sold. Therefore, I don't think it's a big deal nor do I think these car are necessarily for sale.

When my 599 GTO arrived at the dealer from the factory i was on Christmas break with my family. My car sat in the service section of the dealership in it's original packaging the entire two weeks I was out of town. I consider it extremely bad form to display an owners car unless of course the owner has agreed to having his car shown while its there for what ever reason.

For sure. Dealerships will only get a few and what better way to stir up attention (and sales of other vehicles) than putting an SE on the floor until the new owner happily takes possession. As long as they keep lookers out of the interior and off the paint its great marketing.

I did want to add for tortesq1 that although these photos are of cars not for sale, I believe that Ferrari will likely use the flagship F12 series to launch higher sets of SEs instead of more of each set. It is an extremely amicable platform. The Aperta is just around the corner. It is likely that the secondary market will grow as original owners will seek newer and more exclusive offerings. Those with even greater means will seek the SP versions to come such as what was already produced with the F60, TRS and SP America with a price tag of millions each.

Thanks for the responses. It would just kill me to think that somebody builds such a spectacular car like the blue dino TDF and then just flips it when I couldn't obtain an allocation.

The photos show the cars are fenced off, almost certain a car awaiting pick up. Some dealers will also ask the owner, if there are a few days before pick up, if they can display the car. I saw that a few times with La Ferrari . I cannot speak for other countries, but UK cars all sold and there is a massive fall back list if anyone drops out. I would be surprised to see a RHD flipped car (first cars arrive in a few months so I may have to eat my words) . If anything comes to uk it will be LHD from europe.

I feel for you Stephen, there's few more passionate about Ferrari than you. If it's any consolation IMO Ferrari is aggressive about anyone flipping their LE cars. Because Ferrari knows it walks a very fine line between creating huge desire for its magnificent automobiles and building a backlash which over time turns into strong incremental sales for other marques. The flipping of LE cars is a driver of that potential backlash.

The good thing is LE cars on social media are extremely recognisable to Ferrari. The Azzuro Dino tdf being a perfect example. We spend a great deal of time making sure each car is distinctive.

When I went to the factory to preview the tdf I went with two other lucky buyers. One had an interesting story about the danger of flipping. He had his newly delivered RHD 458SA placed on a famous UK indie dealer for sale. Within hours Ferrari had pounced on it and told his dealer in no uncertain terms to check immediately the 458SA was NOT for sale. No mention of his tdf but the implication was obvious. His excuse was he had visited the said dealer and without his knowledge the indie had taken pics and posted them, adding the car was for sale. We all laughed including him but the point had been made.

Ferrari knows flipping LE cars openly on social media does nothing but cause anger. Flipping an LE car in one of its dealers and then featured on social media is plain nuts. And therefore highly unlikely. I hope you're able to secure one and FWIW I do believe Ferrari is tracking its cars and its customers behaviour. Because today it's very easy to do.

Agree. I wait to see if there will be any Avio Metallic TdF. Does anyone know who is the owner of the fantastic Azzuro Dino TdF?

    Thank you in advance.
