I'm very happy when I hear of someone that likes those cars too or just asks for some info. At my eyes they are fantastic looking and the Ferrari first step in the turbo era: a small step for Ferrari, but a great step for car history.

(I think I have already read something like that, but I don't remember where and when anymore, maybe could be an american astronaut many years ago... :) )

    ciao

I would like to add this, that many maybe don't know yet: 208 GTB turbo was introduced in spring 1982. At that moment Ferrari still produced the 308 GTBi/GTSi 2v, as the QV was introduced just later, during fall 1982. The 2 liter 208 turbo had more power (220 hp at 7000 RPM) than the three liters engine (214 hp at 6600 RPM) and the same (more or less) maximum torque: 243 Nm at 4600 RPM for the three liters, 240 Nm at 4800 RPM for the turbocharged 2 liter. At those times It was an incredible result for a just two liters engine: I remember very well the "wow" I said when I read the tech specs 33 years ago. So this two liter is not slower than the three liters "i" cars, and with a better sound.

    ciao

Hi, fairly new on Fchat but loving every post of it. Simply amazing how many people are so passionate and helpful. Love the threats about the 208.
Here is a picture of my 1985 208 Turbo.
Bought the car in Italy 2 years ago and never regretted ever since. It's a joy to drive and love the 80's turbo lag, you always have to keep the revs up above 3000rpm where the fun begins 🤗!

Hi Benneke, glad to hear you like your two liter turbocharged Ferrari, a mix of Vintage emotions and beauty for Italian sport car lovers.

Nice sound, Benny! I recomend you to buy the Tubi Style muffler. It's stainless steel, has a great sound and the engine starts pushing almost 1000 RPM before than with the standard muffler: its' amazing how it improves the low and mid RPM thrust of that engine.

I don't sell nor produce Tuby Style mufflers: I have one installed on my silver 208 GTB and the power output improvement is simply fantastic.

    ciao

Do you have just the muffler Alberto, or also the manifolds ? I remember my mechanic saying that the OEM manifolds were more of an obstacle for the engine than the OEM muffler, that is for 3 litre atmospheric 308 engines. Don't know if this goes for turbo cars too ?

    & lovely car, Bennie !!

Hi Eile, I just have the muffler, but it's enough to be in another world. The 208 turbo intercooler doesn't suffer of lag or low RPM power, while the early 208 turbo without intercooler lacks power at low RPM: this muffler solves the problem. I think that a turbo intercooler 208 would be a rocket with that exhaust!

My silver one came with the Tubi already installed, but after driving that car for the very first time, I immediately got another one for my other red 208 turbo: it's really incredible.

    ciao

I've read your post Albert about the tubi muffler and got me very interested. Boost a 1000rpm sooner sounds unbelievable! Now it's starts really pushing at 4000rpm and keeps going very strong all the way to the red line. A sooner boost should make it much more suitable in modern day traffic. Only the price of the tubi is something else.. Unless you have one lying around you want to sell at a decent price ;-))
I've planned some expensive works on my car that I want replaced like the clutch and a leaking exhaust manifold etc. So after that I'll be saving for a tubi exhaust I guess ;-)
What tubi do you have, I believe there are different types?

Albert, I really like your silver 208. It makes all the lines of the car simply stunning.
My car was registered in Italy on Modena license plates, sadly they had to be removed and returned to Italian PRA. Would have loved it if I could have kept them as a part of the cars' history.

Do they keep service records from the 80's-90's? My car was serviced there but I have no records. Would be great to have them.

Toni Auto is probably the world best known and one of the biggest Ferrari specialist mechanic shop.

Placed in front of the Ferrari factory historic gate, it has almost 50 years of Ferrari service history. Founded by Franco Toni, the father of the actual owner Silvano Toni, it's one of the things to see for a Ferrari enthusiast when visiting Maranello. Much bigger than it looks from outside and very picturesque, it's one of the living legends of our world wide famous Motor Valley.

Just a bit too far away for me to go there for a service job.
At least I still have a keychain to look at ;-)

It's just a very small peek, it's mind blowing what's in there. He has a another storage place for his customers that is 5 times as big as his workshop. Next time when I come there I will take some more pictures and post them. Will be in about a week or two when my car goes in there for service and a new clutch.
