Another DD French-registered 1928 YD 78 in gorgeous Blu Acapulco at the Chantilly Arts et Elégance 2015.

I'm wondering if this isn't HLA12150 which was formerly based in Necker, Germany registered ES-EE 11?

Those wheels are quite a departure from the original factory gold as shown below.

Thar red QV was anyway completely changed from a former White/White car.

 

Here is a DD (Gerhard Berger's) in the same livery with gold wheels when new circa 1987. The gold color is much more subtle.

Yes correct, that's when the gold wheels were refinished in a brighter shade.

Rosso Siviglia (215157)? Just a guess.

Jalpa_Mike is correct, PPG 2.464.022 Rosso Siviglia is the only non-metallic Red for the Countach, at least as far as the DD is concerned.

Did the QV FI cars have a different red option

 

I think the question of what the brightest (non-metallic) red used for the Countach was posed for the Countach in general (from LP400 to 25th), and since we are in the DD thread, I can confirm that Rosso Siviglia is is correct for the DD.

However, it is likely also correct for all the other variants from the LP400S onwards.

Interestingly, my color chart is for 1985 - 1988 and states the color code as PPG 2.464.022 whereas Mike referred to the color code as 215157, and he has a QV FI, so either the FI cars have a different color code or the paint sampler uses and old out-of-date paint code. In case of the former, it wont be the first time a factory has designated particular livery choices for certain destinations, in case of the latter, I wouldn't be at all surprised, and then the moral of the story may be - don't trust paint codes!

Single-mirror (Monospecchio) prototype.

 

Light units dismantled, cleaned & reassembled.

Lenses are the original units manufactured by PlastiCenter di Bologna, they polished very well, the spring-locked turn-signal units were removed and the internal light reflector-bases cleaned up like new (they were full of dust & silt deposits), and the rectangular bezels have been polished. This is the DS unit, in original Swiss configuration, ready to go back into the completed car
