Its weird seeing cattle with horns. Most here have them removed.

My neighbor, actually second house down. Has cattle. He has a couple restaurants, so the cows are for his establishments. I can only remember one of his restaurants names. He's also a multi Ferrari owner, 458 Spyder, 348.

That is just plain terrific! That appears to be the cut we call bone-in rib eye in the U.S. I watched a couple of videos of Casa Julian, and it looked great. Thank you for posting...T

Went in another direction. Did the boat show for 2 hours. Ended up meeting my brother and sister in law, nephew for a late lunch. Ate enough I'll just make my famous Elvis sandwich.

We did Pizza Hut, not as good as it used to be. They changed their recipe to be less greasy and more healthy.

    Go Elvis!!

I like Dominos among the national chains on the rare (once every four years or so) that I get a hankering for someone else's pizza...T

Tonight was grilled salmon (skin side down on a hot griddle) with strawberry-balsamic glaze. The side was potato latkes, but with mashed not grated taters. The latkes were OK, but nowhere as good as the old lady down the block used to make. :(

We normally do Dominos as well. But they don't have sit down like Pizza Hut.

Yum. Haven't been there in 20 years. Where'd you get that tomahawk that you had a pic of the other night?

Oysters would be good....... Tonight is cheap night out. A Canadian chain that's mostly rotisserie chicken. Called Swiss Chalet. Its more popular in Ontario. Here several have closed down. Its about a Denny's in atmosphere and cost.

I have found out, from experience, that you cannot go wrong with a good rotisserie chicken and the left-overs also make great sandwiches for lunch the next day.

Roto chicken always smells so good at the super market. Especially when you go shopping on the way home from work, and you're starving!

Yeah, the left overs are pretty good. This place also does take out. I sometimes order the quarter chicken and 1/2 rack of ribs via take out. Eat the ribs, poutine (fries and cheese) and save the chicken for lunch. Sometimes make chicken salad sandwiches. Their house BBQ sauce tastes good mixed with mayo. But the location in my town closed. Have to drive 20 minutes into the town next door now. I'm kind of ticked it closed, it was a good option for lunch and dinner.

I sometimes pick one up at Costco. Makes an o.k. dinner and next day lunch.

I haven't ever been an oyster fan. And I live in an area with supposedly some of the best in the world. Oysters and crab for some reason have never been favorites of mine. Just about any other type of seafood is good though. Some people think I'm odd. They're probably correct. ;)

Crabs are too much work for the amount of meat. Did like fishing for them off the pier at Sheepshead Bay. However, if someone else is doing the cracking and picking, then I'm in. :) I've had fried oysters, fried oysters, Rockefeller, a la Newburg, etc. Meh. I like them fresh - nice and briny - squirt of lemon, bit of horseradish, and dash of Tabasco. Then washed down with a frosty beer.

Tonight we have leftovers. But, what leftovers! Brisket from Franklin's in Austin. With a baked sweet potato, brown rice, and cranberry sauce. Washed down with a Nestle splash (flavored sugar water?!? Got them free at Kroger. Horrible)...T

It may be hard too believe but Walmart and a few other well known grocers have pretty darn good rotisserie chicken.

Rotisserie or roasted is all good with me and I'm am uncertain if anyone else here receives, watches or is familiar with "Cook's Country", we get the quarterly cook books, but they take recipes through trial and error in an attempt to perfect them.

Wal-Mart here is pretty good. Until Wal-Mart, only had one grocery store near me. The rest are almost 15 minute drives. I go into Wal-Mart almost daily for deli meats. They have the exact same deli meats as Safeway. Also buy most of my pop there.

One thing is certain....there are hits and misses when shopping in general.

As I type this I am watching "Bizarre Foods: Delicious Destinations" so I digress.

The grocery store scene here is pretty limited. Small town. Only a few stores and almost all are discount stores. Wal-Mart is upscale here, then Safeway and Costco.

Next time you're in the Big Easy, get the muffy at Central Grocery. Trust me, it's awesome! Safe travels.
