Another DD French-registered 1928 YD 78 in gorgeous Blu Acapulco at the Chantilly Arts et Elégance 2015. I'm wondering if this isn't HLA12150 which was formerly based in Necker, Germany registered ES-EE 11? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Those wheels are quite a departure from the original factory gold as shown below. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here is a DD (Gerhard Berger's) in the same livery with gold wheels when new circa 1987. The gold color is much more subtle. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes correct, that's when the gold wheels were refinished in a brighter shade. Here is another example from new documented as 1987. Tutto Originale. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Does anyone know what the brightest color red was (without pearl) that was available on the Countach?
Jalpa_Mike is correct, PPG 2.464.022 Rosso Siviglia is the only non-metallic Red for the Countach, at least as far as the DD is concerned. Image Unavailable, Please Login
It was brought to my attention that Forza appears to be using a rendition of the DD - potentially searing it into the hearts & minds of tomorrow's owners Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I think the question of what the brightest (non-metallic) red used for the Countach was posed for the Countach in general (from LP400 to 25th), and since we are in the DD thread, I can confirm that Rosso Siviglia is is correct for the DD. However, it is likely also correct for all the other variants from the LP400S onwards. Interestingly, my color chart is for 1985 - 1988 and states the color code as PPG 2.464.022 whereas Mike referred to the color code as 215157, and he has a QV FI, so either the FI cars have a different color code or the paint sampler uses and old out-of-date paint code. In case of the former, it wont be the first time a factory has designated particular livery choices for certain destinations, in case of the latter, I wouldn't be at all surprised, and then the moral of the story may be - don't trust paint codes! Here is a paint sticker off a 1988 QV FI: PPG 215157. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I posted these factory DGMs in another thread to assist an effort there, but I believe they belong here for posterity so here they are, dimensions of all aspects of the exterior. Moving along, the old spare-tire straps hardware http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/144449256-post1530.html came back today, re-plated as new, and now re-fitted into cleaned & rejuvenated rubber Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Spotted in Tivoli, Italy, 22 years ago on June 1st 1994, parked near the Villa Adriana. Seen the following day near the Spanish Steps in Rome. This well-traveled Countach posted earlier in this thread in Cannes Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Light units dismantled, cleaned & reassembled. Lenses are the original units manufactured by PlastiCenter di Bologna, they polished very well, the spring-locked turn-signal units were removed and the internal light reflector-bases cleaned up like new (they were full of dust & silt deposits), and the rectangular bezels have been polished. This is the DS unit, in original Swiss configuration, ready to go back into the completed car Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
If anybody needs these Plexi lenses, I have a set of spare I bought for a friend who lost them during the repaint of his car.
Excellent. I have an OEM set but I'm keeping them as spares. FWIW they are part numbers 006319504 & 006319503. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Outtakes from the CBS 60 Minutes show almost 30 years ago - Vale driving too fast in the factory courtyard. And overtaking a large truck @ 100 mph. On a two-lane road. Around a bend Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
