Ok so I'm bored and want a new toy. Had the gallardo,360 and a few sl amg's. I drove the f430 spider and thought it felt like the 360 with more power and less twitching. Didn't really do anything for me. Drove the sl65 and thought it was incredible, but it doesn't feel nimble and agile. No Ferrari shriek in the exhaust either. Haven't driven the lp560, or huracan yet. My 06 gallardo was very .. Mechanical and clunky. I LOVED the sound of it. Drove the 458 and my god it's fast and my god it's handling is tight but its not the prettiest car. The aventador is the best looking super car on the road today, it's just too much money. The lp640 is older and just feels like old technology. Drove an R8 which I thoight was absolute rubbish. Those plastic paddles on the wheel? Come on!! The jaguar type f r blew me away. Fast like the 458 and an amazing exhaust note, but the depreciation is gonna be brutal and it's a jag. I just don't know what to get. I hate 911s, they're out. McLaren came out of nowhere with their new sports cars and I'm still skeptical. Help!
Try a 997.1 or 997.2 GT3/RS. I know you said 911's are out, but I think it's worth a drive. The manual tranny and that banshee screaming exhaust is addicting. MDS
Similar to what I'm contemplating, Aston V12 Vantage Carbon Edition (NA V12 w 6sp). They came out in 11, shouldn't fall too much more than they already have.
I guess I'm kind of over the whole super car segment. The 458 is just too perfect, as if it's missing some of the soul of the predecessors. No doubt it's the best car I've driven but I have a feeling it won't give me the feeling of being in love with the car. I like the mercedes gts but I think they are gonna drop like a tank. It also feels a little claustrophobic to be honest. I'm starting to think the huracan might be a good idea? Anyone owne both the huracan and 458?
Get a new Viper and a new Z06 both manual 645/650 HP and will beat anything on the road or track(ACR) under 1 mil.
Corvette C7 (2015/2016) Z06 with Z07 package (or Stage-3 Aero and CCM brakes without the full Z07 package), 7-speed manual, Torch Red, Competition seats...CF removable T-Top... I have a 458 and an F12 in addition to the 'vette.....the 'vette is intoxicatingly fun to drive if you like a "raw" American muscle car feel in a toy. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/american-muscle/509339-15-z06-z07-package.html
Renault Clio. If you like rally or hillclimb. Yes, no joke. Saw one today, amazing! Reminded me somewhat of the MG Metro 6R4, which managed 0-100 km/h in about 3 s (race version). On gravel . This Clio was a V6 mid-engined version sold maybe 10 or 15 years ago. Weird wide factory body kit, rear seats thrown out and engine placed there instead. All done by the factory . Sometimes the controllers appear to be in holidays . Cheers, Bernhard P.S.: And telling that you own a Renault Clio (or an MG Metro, if you can find one) you will never upset anyone ..... P.P.S.: Here the Metro. If you drive with your spouse like that she will not see you as a poser. And any Ferrari or Lamborghini will eat your gravel anyway . OK, how about stop playing the XBox / Playstation games and start driving the real cars? By doing that, you can get a sense of how the real world feels like.
Do you know of a 6R4 for sale? The real thing, not one of these "replicas", some even with this lazy Rover V8 ... And you must admit that the OP would not be really "bored" sitting in one as a passenger, not to speak at the wheel .
Singer would be terrific but is Aventador+ money. As someone already mentioned, Aston Vantage V12 with manual should be most satisfying of the entire bunch mentioned.
What do you want: Paddles or manual w/clutch? Top speed or GT comfort? Hydraulic power steering or steer by wire? High pitched or deep exhaust?
SDS, how about you stop posting jealous remarks and put your ass to work so you can drive a decent car one day too. Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I'm leaning towards the 458, it's the best one I've driven so far. Ryalex, great questions! My preferences are fast shifting/paddles, acceleration over top speed, good handling, not heavy feeling. High pitched exhaust for sure. Hence 458, right?
Sounds like it - I totally understand the "too perfect" comment - although if you're in that $200K range I'd try the new mclaren 570s and Huracan 580 first. Reviewers are talking about the 570S being light and fast.
