I am trying to nail down my final spec on the tdf, but am having trouble deciding which shade of red to go for. My F12 if Rosso Fiorano (great colour but a bit too gold/brown in some lights). I have tentatively chosen Rosso Maranello, but am tempted by the stunning looks of the Rosso Fuoco posted recently on another post. Can someone please post some photos of a tdf or F12 in Rosso Maranello, but in normal light, and untouched/not enhanced, please. My objective is to go for a sophisticated look, with a leaning towards the "wine" shade rather than a gold/brown tinge, nor fire engine red. Any opinions/recommendations are welcome. Thanks,
Only three choices... Maranello Fuoco Rubino Micalizzato.... Fuoco pictures http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/143518741-post23.html http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/143547064-post43.html Rubino pictures http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/143519734-post30.html
I had an FF in Rosso Maranello. It's a beautiful colour and can change depth and darkness depending on the light. However, it's a very pricey option.
I have Rosso Maranello - it is amazing, but you have to see it in person. Everywhere I go, people in the trade and passers-by can't get over the color. Also, a main reason we bought this car over several others we were looking at. I really pops.
Shameless plug here, I think Rosso Coburn might be a good fit. It's similar to Fuoco but more red and has a classy deep red or wine tone in darker lighting. Not on a F12 but here are some unedited random shots in various light conditions. Rosso Fuoco or Rosso F1 2007. I would have a tough time picking as they both look similar under some lights but I think the Fuoco has more depth in more lights whereas the Nuovo can look like plain RC under some lights but both are gorgeous colours.
Rosso Maranello would be my choice .. Same as my FF and the color is amazing ... Looks different depending on the conditions but it is my favourite of all the triple layer options but hey I am biased !!
I will choose either Rosso Fuoco or Rosso F1 2007 if I prefer red color. Rosso F1 2007 is a bit tone of Rosso Dino under sunshine.
If you want a wine-red colour, Rosso F1 is not what you want. It's very much like RC, but a non-metallic tri-layer with a bit more "pop" and a bit more orange. Rubino is definitely a good choice in this regard and so is Mugello if you want non-metallic.
I saw the two literally side by side at a Pilota event and whilst RF had always been possibly my favourite red, the purity and richness of NFF1 stole the show for me.
OK, since I can't seem to get anyone to post an untouched photo of Rosso Maranello, let me complicate things by posting photos on my Rosso Fiorano F12. As you can see, 80% of the time it is stunning, but under certain lower light conditions, it reverts to an orange/gold/brown tinge. Ideally what I am looking to achieve is closer to the Maserati photo attached which is their Rosso Magma (but not quite as in-your-face as that). Thanks for all your suggestions so far. All are excellent colors and ideas. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Can't vouch for the untouched part but F12 wearing Rosso Maranello at Cornes dealer> Your color choice sounds much easier. Luca di Montezemolo is said to have reviewed 248 shades of red before he chose Rosso Maranello... Image Unavailable, Please Login
An unretouched photo of the color is sort of impossible. Every camera has its own color sensitivity and internal adjustments to enhance the resulting photos when taking jpg pics. Pics taken in RAW format will all appear really bland until "enhanced" in software to better emulate the reality of the scene. Some photographers will over enhance, and some will make the colors appear to be how they wished it to be, not so much as it was. Meanwhile, we had a 2005 612 in Rubino Micalizzato, and loved it for most of the reasons that you state: it sparkled in bright sunlight, and appeared to be a deep wine color in subdued lights. Under fluorescents it appeared bluer, and under LPS lighting it was way more orange. Its a chameleon, adapting and reflecting the ambient lighting. That's the big appeal to me of the metallic paints. So we ordered that color for our FF. We really like the Rosso Maranello that was painted on the car at the Atelier when we specced our car, but found it to be a bit too much on the pink spectrum, and not quite as rich young Syrah/Merlot-colored in subdued lights. When we got our FF, we discovered that it is quite different from how our 612 looked. Its darker always, less sparkle, and more subdued in all lighting. We like it, but its not the same sparkle we had with the 612. Its down to some small variation in how the color, mica, and top coat was mixed I imagine. Most of the pics of our cars I've posted are retouched to better represent the way the car looked at that time and in that situation. With the warm red sunset in the high altitude of Santa Fe NM, its very deep rich red. In the harsh city lighting of downtown Seattle, its much more austere, and a bit colder. In the bright mid-day sunlight of SoCal, it sparkles, if less vividly than our 612 did in the same situation. And at night under city street lights it seems to have absolutely no metallic quality to it, and appears a bit orangish, like a well aged Bordeaux. So as much as those annoying metal plates can be at the local dealer, being able to look at each side by side, and in the same lighting is the best way to really choose between the various colors you're talking about. And then know that what you get will look close, but probably not exactly like what you expected. And in the end, any of the reds you're looking at will look good in my opinion. They're all great colors for an FF, and most are extra cost.
I have Ferrari's in both of these colors and I would say that Maranello Red is more bright than Rosso Fuoco. Cheers!
Rosso Berlinetta is awesome...launch color for the F12 Fuoco seen here on the SA is awesome too. "First world' problems!! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
