The green chile mac and cheese looked even better but that looks like it could be good!

    That looks great!!

I was at Costco today and it was pretty much the typical zoo. I've never been to one that wasn't crazy busy. Never.....anywhere. I did pick up a few bottles of Costco wine so will see how they are. The better Kirkland Reserve reds were a lot more than what Tom said he gets them for but still less than $20/bottle (the cost difference is probably WA taxing the crap out of anything alcohol or smoke related). They did have a Rioja reserve for like $7/bottle. I like Rioja so it will be interesting to see how it is. I grabbed two of those. I also have a HUGE magnum bottle of Chianti reserva that I bought around the holidays. Pretty good deal at about $40 when you consider it's about 4 regular bottles. I bought a few last year for holiday parties. They generally only carry them around the holidays. It's fun to show up at a party with one and share it!!

That looks like it would be tasty. Looking forward to a report!! :)

Swung by Winco on the way home last night and they had chuck roast on sale for $3.99/lb so grabbed a little one and tossed it in the crockpot last night. It came out ok but I prefer pot roast done in the oven. This ended up with too much liquid and not enough flavor. Still tasty just not as good as it could have been.

Sunday family dinner is either going to be tri-tip or beef stroganoff depending on whether my sister or I wins the decision. I'll probably be cooking either way. :)

It was pretty good. I don't like the bottles of Parmesan Grated Cheese, like the Kraft stuff. So I bought and grated my own parmesan.

Costco's are all pretty crazy. I've been inside a ton of their stores. Most in California, Oregon and Washington. The one in Bellingham sells the most milk in the U.S. though. Kirkland stuff is always top notch. Its the only store brand Id buy and trust. Although we have a store brand here called President's Choice. Its the store brand for Loblaw's which is several different stores. They had an in store brand called no name and when they started offering premium stuff it wouldn't sell as no name, so they came up with President's choice. Canada is just starting to allow wine and beer sales in grocery stores. Probably be another year or two until it happens here. I only buy beer and wine in the U.S. if I'm in the states for 48hrs. Duty otherwise makes it very expensive.

Looks good. Usually do fish n chips Fridays with the parents. You'd think being a British Commonwealth country and in province named British, we'd have great places for it. We do but not as good as England!

Winco are starting to pop up in Texas. Their prices seem good. How's the quality of their meat?

I would say it's on average with Safeway or any other large chain. They do carry a LOT of cheap stuff and I jokingly refer to it as the welfare store. Kind of the Walmart sort of crowd at least at the one near me. ;)

I refused to shop there when they first opened because them moving in basically forced the closure of my favorite QFC store right up the road. But I gave in. Their prices are cheaper, sometimes considerably cheaper than Safeway or Fred Meyer/Kroger which are really the only other two stores in my fairly small town.

Looks very good!! Cod is one my favorites other than Halibut. Lingcod is probably my all time fave fish but it's pretty hard to find unless you catch the ugly bastard. And I do mean U.G.L.Y. :)

I was annoyed when Wal-Mart built their new store on this side of town. We had one grocery store, it was pricey, but good quality. It closed 3 months after Wal-Mart opened. IGA, no relation to the American IGA chain or the rest of Canada's IGA stores.

Lingcod is a beach to clean!!!!! The house I grew up in was on the water. Strait of Georgia was basically my pool. Connects to the pacific ocean. Anyway, sometimes Id go fishing and catch lingcod.

Funny you mention Lingcod. Cod was so over fished/harvested for so long that Lingcod stepped in taking its place. No noticeable difference between Cod and the "hell of it". Some of mom's homemade tartar sauce and a fresh baked loaf, keep your wit's about you and watch your fingers.

    Thank you sir, twas I...

....and speaking of Costco, I used the rest of the batter on some shredded leftover Costco rotisserie chicken. Twice cooked now. Really good.

Here the waters are broken up into zones, like area 21, 22, etc. Certain species have limits, some are catch and release, some zones you can't fish in at all. This year they closed my local area for salmon. The year before it was a record run. Fishing here is very popular for recreation and commercially. Benefits of living on the pacific. Very fresh seafood.

The fish n chips has me in the mood. Inviting my parents. My parents like halibut the best, so that's what we order. We get the family pack, 6 pieces of halibut, fries, coleslaw and extra tartar sauce. I also order the oysters and chips.

Is there any cheese on that. My grandma made what she said was how they used to do pizza in Sicily. As I recall, it was just dough and tomato sauce (aka gravy). I just assumed she was punishing us by leaving off the cheese, pepperoni, etc! 😃

I called my neighbor. He is Italian, couldn't find a decent Italian restaurant in BC, so he opened one. His restaurants don't serve pizza. He is aware that in Sicily they do a pizza with no cheese.
