Way to go Brian ! A Home Run for Ford all the way around. Heard the application process my go online in the next 2-3 weeks. Fingers crossed !
Wow - awesome! I've said in many threads that Ford Design has been very impressive in recent years. I guess you had more than a little to do with that! All the best, Andrew.
Just to make clear--Ford Studio did 100% of the styling-I will take no credit for that. Interior and exterior. And the concept was all Ford... I was responsible for chassis, aero, suspension, drivetrain, etc. But in each of these areas I had lots of experts who did the hard work. I just made sure we all stayed on the samepath and that it all "fitted" together correctly and the car did what Ford wanted. Small but very experienced group of engineers made this car happen-in the end it was their collective efforts and passion and cleverness that made it happen. I was lucky to be there to help in my own small ways.... The days of the single designer doing it all ended decades ago. I mean Adrian Newey has 100 engineers making him look good... Just how it is nowadays...
Any reason you weren't at the FGT owners rally in September with Raj, Chris, Jamal, Bill III, etc? Just curious.
Persoanly while I love the orgionality of the styling, the function, these cars are for driving, and I am preparing my powder to make the stretch to get one, the Gt seems a product of those who drive and its for driving, unlike most of the others exotics out there which are fast Gt cars for ... Lest hope every Gt does not end up with a "collector" and we get to see a few playing on road and track, even better maybe experience it..
Looks like it got a little deep at Daytona yesterday. Pics courtesy of the Ford GT Forum. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thank you for clarifying this. I was hoping you would. Congratulations on your great contribution. It's always cool to see the fruits of your labor. All eyes are on Daytona this weekend. The Corvette guys are pumped. Love seeing Ferrari, Corvette and Ford mix it up on the track like in yrs gone by.
I saw a new ford GT on display in Scottsdale today spent a lot of time looking at and I DO NOT LIKE IT the design just does not work there are some awkward angles on it and truthfully it did not seem to draw a big crowd I went back 3 times looked at every angle ... On the other hand it was a plane white car maybe a better color would help but those of u that have the recent ford gt 05/06 hold on to them as they are much better looking in my opinion...
Agreed, I took a look at the white one and it was simply stunning! Fresh design, with cues to the past-and they are racing it!
impdesigner, Are you at liberty to share some of the incredible stories you must have from the project?
I guess you worked more from the Multimatic side of the partnership with Ford. Our Ford GT owners group spent a great deal of time yesterday talking with Larry Holt about both the race and street FGT's. He was kind enough to hang out with us after the 24 finished and actually came and had dinner with us. Straight up, tell it like it is guy.
So there actually a clause stating not to resell? What would be the repercussions? I can guarantee that some of these will be flipped anyway..
Larry Holt is one of the most stand up guys in the business. Incredible intellect, passion and story teller. Working with him and others at Multimatic was some of the most rewarding times of my career. The guy you saw and heard at the Owners dinner is 100% genuine. Nothing phony about him.
Not true-the Corvettes did well nearly out of the gate. They had the misfortune in running up against a faster Viper squad.
