They are a little more work than halibut but as long as you watch for the spikes and the teeth not too bad. It's been years since I cleaned one though.

Yep, I used to fish with my Uncle out of the Point Defiance Boathouse and rock cod were plentiful.

Not sure even their mothers love them.

Korean BBQ is still in the back of my mind. We have a Korean restaurant in town that also does sushi. Normally I avoid Korean/Japanese combo restaurants, because they do neither well most times. But I've herd good things about this place.

    Tom,
I find chives to be less drastic than onions or shallots but there are many factors involved I'm sure. You could dice the green onions and then soak them for a few minutes. I think that will help take some of the initial bite away.

Hi Gregg...Thanks. I think this dish could have used a bit more bite, to be honest. It was kind of bland. I think if I do this again, I'd use a little more Meyer lemon juice/rind (it was hardly noticeable to me, although wife says otherwise). Also, may need to reduce the sauce down a tad more to concentrate the flavors. C'est la vie. 😃

Btw, the wife and I had this cheese on homemade warm crostini with a glass of wine before dinner. Like brie but a bit richer and had a nice nutty, mushroom taste to it.

Did take out. Couldn't decide on any Korean dishes. Stuck with Japanese. Salmon and tuna sashimi. I realize almost all the tuna sold here is frozen on the boat. Big reason the Japanese will pay big bucks for tuna, it hasn't been frozen. Anyway, at least they could have defrosted the tuna more. Don't like frozen center tuna! Salmon was good though. Also ordered some rolls and a chopped scallop cone. O.k. sushi, but below average for this area.

Frozen tuna? Blech. How was the scallop cone? That sounds interesting...T

That doesn't look like it sucks at all. Not sure about that lump of green slime on your plate but the rest looks good. ;)

Well this may be bordering on heresy but I made a big ole batch of beef stroganoff using a couple nice looking tri-tips. Made it for Sunday family dinner for about 9 of us. I was trying to convince my sister that I'd just sear and roast the meat but for whatever reason she had her mind made up we were having stroganoff. So I obliged my much older sister who just had knee surgery a few days ago. Just the nice kind of guy I am. :)

I was schvweating a bit by the time it was all done so I forgot to take a pic but it turned out pretty well. Seems like it was missing something but I couldn't put my finger on it. Used this recipe but used several cloves of garlic and probably a bit more butter since I was at least doubling everything else. Classic Beef Stroganoff recipe from Betty Crocker

Stroganoff is good haven't had it in awhile. Every couple months and holidays my brother visits from the island. His wife is Chinese, born and raised in China. She doesn't know how to cook nor does she like our food. She'll only eat Asian foods. Brother basically eats Chinese dishes every day, breakfast, lunch and dinner. So when he comes we feed him basically comfort foods while here. Beef stroganoff is usually on the menu.

The beef stroganoff is a recipe simmered, I think that filet mignon (A very good piece for the stove or oven) too cooked becomes dry. It is best to use pieces as numbered below:

Sorry, I do not know their name in your language. Google will surely help.

I forget the comedian who said it. But they said going to a strip joint is like going to a good steak house and not being allowed to eat the steak!

The last time I did a side of beef, had the butcher grind most of it into hamburger. He thought I was nuts. Most of it was for the dogs.

A tip for those in the sticks with large pastures. Farmers, especially cattle farmers will mow it for hay for free. I also got the side of beef free. So turning it into dog food was economical.

I've seen stroganoff with the "bits" left over after you trim a beef tenderloin, but that sounds decadent. Maybe if you're going for over the top, also use some crazy exotic mushroom? 😒...T

The naked sushi girls remind me of a party I went to a few years ago. It was an after trade show party, for the exhibitors. They had painted nude models mingling with the guests. It was kind of creepy.
