Thank you! I hope this Countach will be properly restored someday (if it's not already the case). It is a rare RHD LP400! If you or your friend have more photos of this Countach (or any other), be sure to share!
Where is that shop? Name? Just curious because the Urraco in the photo is red, has black louvers, and most importantly, has the prototype 20 spoke wheels.....all as my car. I actually have the import papers of where the car came from before it arrived in the US. Perhaps this the shop the US owner bought it from in the 80's.
Mr. Sackey had some highlights to share on that one http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/144383829-post22108.html and here http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/144386119-post22112.html
Joe added them to the thread, they were shared via the countach community and can be found on my web page as well. http://www.countach.ch/History/PaceCar/index.html
What a great marketing ploy by Patrick Mimram! I like these ones from 1982 Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Great period photos! Thanks. The LP400 was spotted in Brno, Cz Rep, in 1976 and the photographer confirmed it was red. And considering the 'ACHILLI' sticker and German registration, it really could be LEL's Countach #1120142.
Interesting! What make you think it's mine? It was purchased from the dealer Tillack, USA, to Sweden by the logistic manager at Volvo in Gothenburg in 1987. I bought it from him 10 years ago. I am interested if you can bring something more about the earlier history. My best LEL
Hi LEL, This is only an assumption based on what is most probable, knowing the following facts. ° The photos are from 1976 and the car was red (yet featuring a dark triangle shape on the front hood). ° I've got two other B&W photos of this LP400 where I can spot two important details: Dashboard air-vents and the exhaust grill type. - The vents are of the first type: a LP400 earlier than 1120188 (June 1976). - The exhaust pipes + grill are of the 2nd type: more common on 1975/1976 cars than 1974 ones. ° The most important part of the guessing is the 'ACHILLI' sticker: According to the factory archives, there were 16 Countach LP400 ordered by Achilli Motors, Milano. However, 2 of them were in fact ordered by German customers, through Achilli's orders: - #1120138: originally painted 'Rosso Special - Bianco' and delivered new on August 28th 1975 --> Red + Achilli + Germany + same exhausts. - #1120142: originally painted 'Rosso - Nero' and delivered new on November 6th 1975 --> Red + Achilli + Germany + same exhausts. I therefore 'ASSUME' the (said to be Red) LP400 on the photos from 1976 in Czech Republic could really be #1120138 or #1120142. We cannot be sure of the interior color from the photos, but if it had to be White or Black, I may go for Black. Of course, it could always be another earlier LP400 already delivered, repainted and sold afterwards through Achilli... Who knows. There's nothing else I can add about that mysterious LP400 itself. But after all these years, I could find data/photos for ~140 of the 150 Countach LP400... including all the other Achilli-ordered cars. I'm not pretending to be an expert who knows everything or else... But if I'd have to give an estimate about this Countach, I'd say: 60% -- #1120142 38% -- #1120138 02% -- another one. Excellent. Victor, the interior is most certainly not white, you can see the backs of the seats are decidedly a dark color, this in 1976 when the car was quite new, so its very likely not 1120138. With this in mind, I vote we increase the odds of it being 1120142 to 99 %.
I'd say the same - can't see how that could be white. One small thing that could be checked, L-E (and Victor), is the location of the number plate bolts on the front bumper. I don't know where these bolts are on 1120138, or if they were in more or less the same place on every LP400, but it could possibly be worth looking at. Edit: On checking my photos from my visits to L-E, it appears these bolt holes have been filled in, so this might not be so useful after all...
It looks a bit different nowadays but sure it was red with black interior when new. LEL Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thank you for acknowledging it. Well, I was too careful with my estimation... Wow! I'm nerver tired of admiring your Countach, LEL! That 'Argento - Tobacco' color choice is excellent!
Here I have a question for the LP400 owners (and enthusiasts): Does anybody know from wich year (and month?) this Owner's Manual was supplied to LP400 buyers? IMHO, the yellow Countach on it is NOT 1120002, neither is #1120082 (the brochure car). Officially, the second 'Giallo Fly' LP400 was #1120040 in late 1974... followed by #1120048 in January 1975, #1120062 in March 1975 and #1120080 in April 1975. (all of them with 'Tobacco' interiors) Please note the half-painted NACAs and window bottom corners... an option rarely seen on the LP400 (I counted only 4 of them, so far). Any thoughts? Today my wife & I at last became acquainted with the end-of-a-series 1120300. With just 3,000 miles on the clock this Nero/Bianco LP400 has been cared for by an ex-SCCA racer enthusiast. It shares garage space with a Miura, an F50, MC12, 918 etc. Originally delivered to Steve Dypvik (who I met @ 10 years ago) this LP400 is the Alpine electronics poster car.
