The spare parts manual states only one type of spring for the rear suspension. In reality there are two different lengths.

Does anybody know the correct original length of the springs?

DaniT, what's the labor rate for doing this job in the Czech republic? PM me if you do not want to post this publicly.

I also use STP for my LM002 sound proofing.
    Quite pleased with the result.

I measured the rear spring from my 1984 LP5000S and it is 30 cm tall.
Hope that helps narrow things down for you. Keep up the good work.

    Sincerely Vic

Dan, I do not exactly understand what you mean with "labor rate". Do you want to know how much Czech restoration shops are charging for one hour of work or do you want to know how much the full restoration is going to cost?

Vic, thank you for the information. The length of the two springs on the rear suspension is not the same. Which of the two springs you were measuring?

I think in my mechanics Garage I still have a spare Distributor lying around, we used parts of it to rebuild mine.
I can contact him if you are interested.

I am not sure as I just grabbed one of the four I had in the box thinking they were all the same. When I get the chance I will measure the other three and let you know how long they are. Vic

Interesting...actually both, but primarily what the one hour of work costs.

Reasoning being - for this particular job you're going back to the lowest level of the build so it will probably be many thousands of hours.

But what if somebody sent a Lamborghini/Ferrari to a Czech shop of your quality level for a normal restoration? The hours spent would be similar to the hours spent in the United States or United Kingdom, but at what rate per hour? That would make a huge difference.

DaniT I measured all of my springs and they were all 30 cm or approximately 12" long.
If yours are different in length my thought is that the shorter ones must have yielded.
Were these springs from the car that had the engine fire? If so I would guess the heat from the fire made them yield and fail.

I have three full sets of springs in my workshop. One set is NOS, the other two sets are used. The burned springs were well beyond being usable. By all sets the rear springs have different lengths and are accordingly marked. I will measure them when they are back from the powder coating.

The average labor rate in the Czech Republic is indeed lower than in western Europe. This is the reason why here are located so many production plants producing components and products for all kinds of industries.

Of course from the same reason are here also many professional car restoration shops located. But the range of the skills, quality, reliability and communication ability is also very wide. I personally do not know about a local shop with Lamborghini experience.

Many of the better shops are belonging to German, Austrian or other western owners. Of course many shops tend to use value-based pricing rather than invoicing only the worked hours and the consumed materials.

If you want to perform here a cheap but high quality restoration you have probably to spend a lot of time on the restoration site and also the risk of damaging or "disappearing" of expensive parts might be a problem.

I was in the past working with many local restoration shops but even spending a lot of time checking and advising them I was almost always disappointed . This was the reason why I started with my own restoration shop...
