I'd say a Vollcabrio is a Spider that could possibly explode like a volcano...

I almost bought that car as a donor for my spider project a couple months ago. If its the same people that had it they agreed to ship it to an east coast port for $27k total, but they didn't really know how to get it imported, it's a US car to start with so I don't think it would be too hard. I ended up passing on it because I was a bit leery of buying from the Russian federation and how to get it to me. I told them if they ever get it to US soil to call me. It would be the perfect donor car if I end up building my spider instead of selling it.

There are no side markers or any Euro spec side-repeaters (that raises alarm bells immediately!), all of the wheels are on the wrong side of the car, the passenger's side lower lights are hanging off, the lower light bracket covers are missing, the roof/roof-frame no longer fits correctly, the front bumper's hanging off at the rear end, the windscreen frame is chrome/silver not black, the entire rear grille has been pulled down in the middle somehow, the engine looks as if it's been on a dusty rally stage, the rear bumper has been pulled down at the rear end on the driver's side, driver's side rear wheel has centre cap missing, one of the rear legs of the rear badge is bent downwards, there are no badges on the engine cover, the emergency fuel flap release cable appears to be missing, the exhausts tips are sitting too low, the Pininfarina badge is missing from the driver's side, the drivers side door lock.push button has been replaced (with a one from a red car - ALARM BELLS!!!!!), they're having to chock the drivers side rear wheel, to name but a few issues with this car.

My suspicion is that this car is either stolen or has previously been damaged (and possibly written off by an insurance company).

Frankly, I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole!

Umm, yeah. It is salvaged, they re not trying to hide the fact. Look it the auto check on the auction page, show damage and major title issue. They half stripped it apart to sell as parts then slapped it back together to try to sell as a project. Hts why I wanted it as a donor.
Also it has an A in the vin so it is a North American car not Euro.

Unlike the USA, in the UK we don't have access to that sort of information unless you pay for it (and I'm not going to spend My money researching cars I have no real interest in!), so I didn't think to check the car's history as it's not something that's usually available to Me - Even on ebay.

Even as a parts car it still sounds as dodgy as a nine bob note!

Ok, I didn't realize that. On the US EBay it shows us the auto check on the top of the page for free. I thought everyone could see it.
I'm thinking a nine bob note must be like a three dollar bill. :) dodgy was the main reason I just couldn't pull the trigger. I know it's not like there have been any scams originating from the Russian federation state of Goerga (sarcasm-there have) but I just couldn't get comfortable sending my money. But then again they told me they would actually get the car too me before they asked me to pay for it. Very trusting or desperate on their part? I don't know I just couldn't get comfortable. That's why I left them with if they get it on US soil to let me know and I'll come get it.
