    This was supposed to be lunch...but after this showed up to the table, it's lunch and dinner...Just think thanksgiving dinner in a sandwich. .Amazing. Capriotti's las vegas..

    I usually do Capriotti's when in Vegas. In Toronto they have a place called California Sandwiches, their sandwiches are too die for. Capriotti is a close second to them.

    My first Beef Wellington at Petite Auberge in Atlanta. Been wanting to try it for years, but it's apparently not as popular now as it was in the early 1960s when Jackie Kennedy served it at the White House.

    I was going to do a dinner date, seeing how its Valentines and all. But decided there is too much on TV to watch today. Like the Offshore Powerboat racing world championship at Key West. Then its Billions, Shameless and Walking Dead.

    Making homemade hamburger helper macaroni casserole.

    Z, ya gotta find the right partner! My wife refuses to go out for dinner on Valentine's Day. She calls it amateur hour! :) So, I cook her a fancy meal.

    Prime filet mignon - details & pics in Steak thread. Sauteed baby crimini mushrooms - olive oil, butter, S&P, a glug of cream, dash of parmesan cheese. Steamed broccoli. Twas yummy...T

    Tonight is movie and dinner night. Movies are $6 per ticket on Tuesdays. Since my younger brother is coming with can't do sushi. French bistro.

    Might skip the movie, the good choices I've seen.

    Took some chicken out of the freezer the other day and thought about grilling it up. When I went to open the package I realized it was chicken tenders so I made chicken strips. Didn't have any breadcrumbs but I had an old stale sandwich roll. Threw that in the oven to finish drying out and made some homemade crumbs. Wasn't enough to do the whole package though so half were just seasoned flour and the other half in bread crumbs. Didn't season the flour well enough so those were a little bland. Both were good though, way better than any pre-packaged stuff.

    Mixed up a quick honey mustard sauce and had some last night for dinner and just ate the rest tonight.

    That has happened to me on several occasions, mistaken the cut.

    I prefer cooking my own tenders because I can experiment a little and they are not over-breaded, I despise that. Have you ever gone to a restaurant and ordered the chicken strips only to find they are not fresh but frozen after just one bite, I have and quickly got a refund and left never to return. The only place I have ever eaten at that had fresh hand battered strips was at Cheddars but that was in '03.

    When I make chicken tenders I just use AP flour, S&P, and some Tony Chachere's and as I mix/combine I look for the color change in the flour. Getting the cooking oil temp is the key though. Sometimes I will use YUM YUM sauce for a dip or just make my own version of a remoulade sauce w/horseradish for extra kick.

    I've never had homemade chicken strips. An ex-girlfriend made these breaded chicken breast dish that was very good. I mostly buy boneless chicken breasts because I feed my dog mostly raw chicken.

    Speaking of dog. Mine is about to become an outside dog! Rain here, so yard is muddy. Wet dirty dog, even dried off will mess up my upstairs carpets. So I'm keeping in the kitchen/family room area with hard wood floors. Little bugger want to go upstairs every five minutes. He's whining, barking and even resorting to mouthing. If he keeps it up, I'll buy a dog run at Costco and he can be outside until rain season ends.

    That's some Iron Chef ingenuity there! Breast tenders are too easily dried out on the grill. I prefer them coated (although only have done this once or twice) or sautéed/wok'd up and then thrown into something like fajitas…T

    Yeah I generally buy some of each in the multiple packs at Costco. Usually 6 packages around a pound a piece. The problem is when you tear apart the packages to put them in the freezer the label doesn't identify each individual pouch. So sometimes when I grab 'em out of the freezer I get what I hadn't intended.

    I do them on the grill too but generally marinate them first do they don't dry out. My favorite is spicy salsa, and good one will do, lots of cumin, some honey and salt and pepper. The little bit of honey will give them a nice caramelization. Good stuff.

    Took the prime New Yorks that I bought on last Costco trip but didn't have time to cook them up today. Ended up with a bolt stuck right in the tread of one of my tires so had to spend almost 2 hours getting that fixed. That was after Vet day for the two pups too so that pretty much blew the day.

    New York steak and something tomorrow though!!

    You've earned those steaks! Get a good Costco red wine to go with those. I'm sick of road food. Can't wait to get back to a home cooked meal, even if I have to cook it!

    My brother and sister in law visited last weekend. SIL wanted to do some Asian grocery shopping. While here she made pot stickers, pork and something else. I'm steaming some now. I've diced some chicken and also making a stir fry. The pot stickers being homemade are much better then a restaurant and way better then the frozen ones they sell at Costco. I need to ask but can taste some egg with the sausage.
