Seems like a very favorable new car rolling out. So how about a poll of FF owners:

Who now wants to get the GTC4Lusso? If so ... is it based on looks, or some other spec? Please specify your mindset.

    A. Happy with the FF, really don't see it happening.
    B. Happy with the FF, yet might go GTC4Lusso someday.
    C. Like the FF, and love the GTC4Lusso, ordering asap.
    D. Never liked the FF, ordering GTC4Lussso eventually.

    A. New design looks a mess inside and out. Don't need the power or the 1st gen hassles.

Agree. Having a FF and not seen the GTC4 in flesh, I might be biased but here is my simple opinion:

    - Front and side views: similar to FF, maybe a touch more excitement due to new front spoiler and gills
    - Rear devides opinions: Looks more "busy" to me and don't like the "roof spoiler" (which solves the issue of the previosuly non-existing rear-wisher) and the squarish lower part which is in contrast to "rounded" front and side styles
    - Interior quality much improved but dashboard and wheel looks a little busy now

My summary: more modern look, which I prefer over the FF but which in my case does not trigger a change from FF to GTC4 from a design and interior perspective

What I am not sure is how much improvement of technology there really is, despite the usual pump-up of horespower, upgrade of SSC, and RWS, etc

For me, this would be the decisive factor to consider a change.

    A. The new design is like a Chrysler C300 Wagon in the rear. Not my cup of tea.

I like the new design but don't see it as a big change for the better. The interior, for me ,is a big improvement.
The difference between the old and new doesn't justify the extra spend but I guess when I come to change the FF I would happily trade on up.
All things being equal I will keep my FF for several more years so would look at changing for a completely new variant whenever that arrives.
    Still love my FF :0)

My general sense from reading the various threads on the GTC4 Lusso is that people who already own FFs don't see much difference and are ok with what they have. For me as a V8 owner thinking of a V12 the GTC4 Lusso is a home run - much sportier looking, way better interior and overall a better package and I would imagine the performance is a notch up also. I would consider the Lusso, I wouldn't consider the FF.

I agree with pretty much all of this. I find the GTC/4 pleasant but generic, and the tail treatment relegates the appearance to standard SUV/station wagon/hatch back. Visual excitement has been lost. The good news is the V12 continues and the superb 4WD system is carried forward.

I loved the new interior, looks very very nice, but I just can't 'get over how they ruined the rear styling, replacing the nice Italian curves with some generic Japanese square-off style.

I liked the front, the side vents are a little bit too much, the extra character line on the bottom of the door is nice and I liked the more defined rear shoulders.

Extra power is nice, but not really needed, rear steering is also good to have for such a big car.

But all in all, there isn't enough substance in the new car to warrant a immediate ordering of the new car.

I like to preach I'm "function over form, and function drives form"....having said that, I love the current gen FF.

The GTC4 is evolutionary, and I like it, though honestly at first glance it sort of reminded me of the angular elements of the 400, and when I walked behind our 355 coupe last night, the rear profile (square shoulders under a square greenhouse) it reminded me of that angle. It's nicely done, to me it's different, not better or worse.

I'm a little confused as to the "we're moving towards single rear tail lights" (post-430) and now back to 4 rear tail lights. Not a big deal.

As for the car itself, I'll bet $30 that the RWS on this car will work both in-phase and out-of-phase, the latter to help in low speed maneuvering. I've always been really impressed by the chassis software on these cars, so interested to see how they evolved the 4RM and SSC3.

We're on our second FF now, we'll be definitely moving into a GTC4 within the next year or so i'd imagine.

This is exactly what I thought when I first saw the photos. I also don't like the four tail lights. Love the front sides though. We will see but I love my FF, sitting in the snow in front of my office right now :). But I'll bet that once I see it in the flesh I will warm up. And with the new technology probably will make the move next year.

Love the direction they have taken the car but I going to hold out till I see it in flesh. I have rushed into a model refresh way too many times and usually slightly disappointed for spending the huge $$ to make the switch and getting a "similar" experience. For now I am still on the hunt to add something different to the stable next winter and eventually when its time go to the GTC4 I am pretty sure I will. At the end of the day I am alone in the car 90% of the time with the radio on low, window cracked open, and the V12 roaring. The GTC4 adds to the creature comforts all of which I really didn't care much about when I moved from the M6 to buy the FF.

On a side note I can see how people who never considered an FF would now, thats the market I believe Ferrari will definitely win in.

The rear could be more dramatic in real life than on pics which tend to flatten everything...

Unless money is not really an issue and you change car every 2-3 year regardless, very few will take the huge hit to switch from the FF to GTC4. The gap is not as large as the 612-FF leap.

What you should see however is people jumping from 612 to early FF as they get cheaper. I would do that trade now it my 612 wasn't manual...

Think I'll stick for now, but I'll certainly be going to go look at one as soon as there is a demo car available.

My likely option is that I'll skip a generation and go for the next clean sheet 4 seater as that will move the game forward - for the cost to change I don't see the benefit in the driving experience offering enough. for another 150k a s/hb458 or a 650s would be a better option...

What?!! It is FAB-U-LOUS!! Can't believe how much I like it. Waaaay beyond expectations. I can't really see a bad angle and it looks to have rectified all the, shall we say difficult angles on the existing car (not that I minded those - character I think they call it...;) )

When the dust settles, this will be seen as a very mature and sophisticated, clever even, update. It will be more successful than the first car IMO. I love the side vents, I think the four rear lights integrate into the design well and neatly reference the back-catalogue, the side profile is much sharper, the front is far stronger and uses some of the TDF 'magic'. I honestly think it's brilliant and my deposit is absolutely NOT coming back.

Only downside is I think the power could have reached 700 but that's only numbers really. They have clearly gone for a flat torque curve. High compression ratio will make the thing sing and I also love the interior.

I can see me driving this thing a lot. Well done Ferrari, wasn't expecting that at all. Even like the name (if a bit of a mouthful).

If by "sportier" you mean trying to be macho and lacking PF balance and design gravitas, a result of marketing not fine art ... then yes!

As you can see, many people with the FF who like the FF don't like the new model.

People who think they're not that different are nearly blind, I'm afraid.

Everyone please ... if you don't own an FF don't vote or post an opinion, plenty of other "opinion" threads.

Wasn't sure at first, but I am now....I just don't like it! Will no doubt look better in the flesh, but the FF is a far prettier car. Love the interior of the new car. Hate the exterior. Front looks way too Panamera for my liking. Just my opinion. Time will tell :)

Anyone else who owns a FF want to chime in ? There must be a few more here.

The more I look at the GTC4 the more it looks like a forum wish list hodge-podge.

I'm also not trusting that category 4 is being chosen by FF owners. They're not posting words to back up the vote.

Brian - I felt the same prior to viewing the car in person last evening. We have enjoyed our FF's very much, and even grew to find the design attractive. I was very disappointed (financially relieved though...) when the photos emerged. In the pics it does look like a mashup of bolt-on features atop the existing FF. In the flesh, it looks like a big leap forward - not a different car, but a much improved take on the original concept.

I particularly disliked the gills and rearend when reviewing the photos - in person these were among the most attractive changes. The interior is very different from other F-cars - much more luxurious and practical. The steering wheel is more user friendly than the last (high beams/wipers/Bluetooth etc can now be predictably controlled without frustration).

Trading up from the FF will be a tough pill to swallow financially, but I can envision this car holding value a little better than last time around - will lose a lot of value, but perhaps not $100k right off the bat?

Summary - I was skeptical and disinclined to purchase, but surprised by the total package when witnessed in person. Depending on the option list pricing, I'll likely place an early order.
