Wait so they made a car that people who own the previous car actually want to buy? Wow, shame on them! How dare they listen to their customers! I was so hoping they'd instead turn the FF into a "piece of art" so I could look at it in museum of extinct cars instead of in my driveway after I had driven and enjoyed it. I don't think this car has any better, or worse, "flow" than the previous FF had but I do think it is an improvement in pretty much every way: looks, ergonomics, performance, features. I think they did just fine on the "design integrity" part. There is a right way and a wrong way to listen to your customers. In this case I'd say Ferrari did it the right way. Personally I wanted them to preserve the driving fun and configuration of the FF but make it prettier, more ergonomic and add some performance. I'd say it is mission accomplished based on what we've seen so far. I'm confident they got the driving part right based on recent release history. Also: if you don't like the car then don't buy one. I think the GTC4 Lusso will turn out to be a better seller than the FF was whether you buy one or not. I sold my 458 Spider and have no interest in the 488 Spider but I'm definitely trading my FF for a GTC4.
I was at the event last night. People should reserve their judgement till they have seen the car in the flesh. The car has zero resemblance to a corvette or C300 wagon or anything else. The car is much more fluid and elegant than the FF. The interior is stunning. Sorry but a Corvette has a interior which fits it's price tag. The onboard entertainment system is a quantum leap from Ferraris before. It's now absolute state of the art. The consensus of the people present was mission accomplished and a much improved car in all aspects. And should it not be natural for them to look at Ferrarichat? After all if the enthusiasts are not here where should they be. And to all those who don't like this and don't like that. Well folks the truth is the order books in Maranello for all cars are about 2 years. And if someone don't like what they see they should go and buy something else. And all those who then move up on the waiting list will thank you. It's always an option to go an buy one of the 250.000 Porsches or AMG, BMW M, Jaguars, Bentleys or how can I forget perhaps a corvette. If nothing else it is really good value for money. And on most of these cars you will get a healthy discount. Wonder why?
No 2+2 of ANY brand has ever had a solid 2 year order book If the Lusso manages a solid year with no arm twisting then that would be a great success IMO
Too be specific I was not Referring to the Lusso regarding the orderbook. It is too early to tell. What is clear already is that a lot of poeple who have not had a Ferrari before are placing orders. And the dealers I saw last night looked very happy. I really dont understand all these destructive and negative comments which are basically without substance. When someone does a good job one should be big enough to acknowledge it. In a few years we will be commuting in fully self driving vehicles which are powered by electric motors. Is that so cool?
I was there too last evening and thought the car was stunning but, the admission by Ferrari that they delberately made 'the front more aggressive with an angry face which would make people pull over more quickly' was not music to my ears. Most people I know would rather be a little more discreet. Not sure about the over pronounced crease lines or the new roof line which dips down like a Panamera from some angles. Lovely car though all the same but better than the FF .? Not so sure. Extra power good but by increasing compression fron 12.5 to 13.5 :1 they had to revised the anti knock programme. Marginal increase in percentage torque vectoring. Fabulous new interior leather colour ' Cognac' but only available in Taylor Made for the first year.
I suspect if you order this car in a darker color you will still be relatively discrete (compared to 488 not compared to some boring SUV). I really don't see how this looks like a Corvette. I've always found this criticism a bit like saying you hear no difference between different rock and roll groups. Sure, both are front engined vehicles, which necessitates some overall packaging similarities, but thats about it. Anyway, I thought after the F12 I might wait some time before the next one but now I see I will not be waiting nearly as long as planned! Thanks Ferrari for refining the concept. I really love what you did here. I should add I've never been one for a 4 seat Ferrari but I can see that has been changed. I am truly excited about this new one!
Everyone will make there own conclusion on design - we will never be 100% on the same side (that would be boring). I for sure see some Corevette Stingray in the "new" ventilation behind front wheels. And the rear window on the sides now have more from C300 than the FF (which has complete different angle) ever had. Not to mention c pillar. Then I never liked the 4 rear tail lights. Nor the extra line on the lower part of the door. For what it is worth: I fully understand and accept, without hesitation, that this design is better for others. My personal taste is: FF 100% in love - GTC4, well it is based on the FF platform but it will never arrive to my garage, that is for sure. I am on the other hand happy that people like the GTC4 - good for you, just don't tell med what to think. Like I wrote, the world would be boring if we all agreed about the design.
Looks even better in the video. Mind you, I often wonder when I see these events, when they're organising these things, who sits down and says, "Hey, you know what would be great? If we torture the poor bastards with a hour's worth of cheesy song and dance and a woman struggling under a cobweb before we show them the car!"
Love the back, especially the new dual tail lights) They are awesome. All the ferraris need them asap. But I hate the idea of shooting brake. They must redesign this model and make it to look like a big coupe(smth like 612 (without) but without the b-pillar...
