    Great story.

Obviously wth the same positive outcome we hope for Michael!

"Miracles" can, and sometimes do, happen.

    Godspeed Michael,
    Ian

The realities of the situation have been obvious for a long time.

Interestingly, while the layman may think that no news for a very long time is good news, the truth is that it is actually the opposite. When a person has undergone massive brain trauma, the general rule is that the medical practitioners like to see improvement in brain function, movement, communication, etc. Having a base line that does not improve over time is actually a negative.

People who don't improve start to have a number of ancillary issues, including infection, heart problems, wasting, degeneration, etc.

As for Luca's statements, my sense is that he has the approval of the family. He and MS were too close for too long for him to spout off without any governor on his emotions.

    Whoa!..... From the link;

    Is that true?

I always thought being in a coma meant you weren't conscious?

My understanding was he came out of his medically induced coma before going home so technically conscious but not exactly doing cartwheels.

I'm sure the medical experts here can state the difference between coming out of a coma and being conscious in a more scientific way.

    Best,
    Sammy

I thought he was in a 6 month coma, before waking up in April.

The same site that was referenced is reporting this today (that story was from 4/26)..

In a news report, the source claimed, "Progress is painfully slow. There is no miracle on the horizon." Schumacher is undergoing treatment and recovery in his house in Switzerland that overlooks Lake Geneva. To prevent media or fans from taking pictures when he is taken out in the garden on a wheelchair, specialized tents have been pitched around the house's perimeter. It is a well known fact that that the champ is unable to walk and needs to move around in a wheelchair.

There are also reports that ever since his accident, he hasn't uttered a word and has been in a medical induced coma. He is also not very well informed about his immediate surroundings. A 15-men medical team caters to his needs every day. The team reports to Jean-Francois Payen, the doctor responsible for removing blood clots from his brain after the ski accident.

Professor Payen also updates Schumacher's wife Corina and his kids Mick, 15, and Gina-Maria, 17, about his health status. Reportedly, he has already set the expectations of the potential outcomes.

Moreover, a medical insider mentions that the cost of Schumacher's treatment since his accident has already reached £10 million. Peter Hamlyn, a spinal and neurological surgeon and a consultant, adds that Schumacher may or may not fully recover. This kind of injury may take years to heal completely, if it heals at all.

He said, "If you look at severe head injury victims who go on to make a good recovery - and I'm not saying all do - it will always be a story of years. The first months are dominated by questions of survival. Gradually as the weeks and months go by those questions of survival turn into questions of the quality of survival."

Family and friends are still hoping for Schumacher's recovery.

Not some dopey website but the Corriere della sera.

Not some anonymous doctor but the prime physician.

I suggest you actually read the story.

Nothing on the Corriere della sera website after a search.

archivio - search Corriere della Sera

I found the same BS story on the Corriere dello Sporte which AFAIK is not affiliated to the Corriere.

Michael Schumacher è peggiorato, la sua vita è appesa a un filo - Corriere dello Sport

If you have the CDS link, please share it. I still think it's the same fake/unsubstantiated click baits.

Click-bait. The site being referenced has absolutely no gravitas when it comes to providing quality news. Still, the story submitted yesterday afternoon was much more hopeful than the one referenced earlier.

It's all grasping at straws though...
