As per title, you get one or the other 16m or 458 Aperta. Which one and why would you make the choice. Looking for good technical reasons not based on value.

Both amazing cars. Both limited and both very special.

Yeah like so many options to just test drive a 458 aperta?

Already got the 16m so no need to test drive, I love the 458 aperta but when comparing them for some reason the 16m still seems more special, but I don't know if that's just the homer in me because I own one. Would love to hear feedback from someone who owns both.

I'd go Aperta. Hard to articulate why but once I'm into paddles or double-clutch I'd rather the more recent technology. That and I think it's a better looking car.

Aperta...I'm personally not a fan of the 16M material roof.

I'd keep the 16m. Both are rare cars and will be special, but the aperta/speciale just don't have that old school rawness to them like the cs/scud/16m. I also prefer the transmission in the 16m over the dct

I've only ridden in an Aperta. Really comfy, very fast. The engine sound is pretty good. As a passenger it was a nice experience but it didn't blow me away.

In terms of looks, I think they're both very unique designs and I like staring at both.

I would go with a 16m only because I'm told it's more raw. It also looks spectacular in RC with the tricolor stripe.

Great question, I love my 16M and am not tempted to change but would love to try the Aperta. Based on drives in a Speciale I do actually prefer the extra rawness of the SF2 F1 gearbox which still creates a real sense of theatre. I'm also more of a fan of the more roof off styling compared to the more enclosed almost targa top.

I recently got the 16M to add to my Aperta. I nod and agree and finally "get" why people said they'll never sell their Scud/16M/CS. It's the raw, visceral experience of it all.

So, one or the other? Do not sell your 16M.

Don't forget that the 16M is the last of the soft tops, that should have an effect on value down the road.

Just based on looks, I'd go with the Aperta. But from what others have said the 16M is more of an experience, I'd keep the 16M.

Technically speaking, the Aperta is obviously the faster and more technologically advanced car. But seeing that they are both drop-tops, lap times probably don't mean much?

If you're looking for more of an event, the 16m SuperFast transmission will rock your world and wet the pants of your passenger. Without the more advanced SSC & super-nannies of the Aperta, the 16M will most definitely be the more exhilarating and unadulterated driving experience, as it challenges you to be a better driver, not mask your inadequacies.

If you're into the exhaust note, stock for stock, the 16M sounds better. Drop in an S-Line xpipe in there and it will sound like F1-incarnate from the glory days when NA V10s and V12s ruled.

In the looks dept, I'm pretty biased. I think the Speciale/Aperta front-end is a hot mess (see below), whereas the Scuderia/16M exudes the very last and pinnacle of pure sexy Pininfarina lines that are no more at Ferrari. It is also the last drop-top that has a glass window that actually shows the motor in all its glory and not the oil cap and partial air intake like the "Capristo engine bay mod". They should call it the oil bay mod to be honest.

The 16M is not the fastest, but key takeaway here is, even by contemporary standards, it is FAST ENOUGH. Checkout the dragrace thread and see for yourself!

Keep the 16m and just add the Aperta if you can afford it!

I guess it would be the 458 sa. First , Where do you even see an aperta for sale? I see a handful of 16ms but haven't come across an aperta in a while. It's a close call between the two in my opinion, it all depends on what you prefer, newer tech and more power vs better sound and visceral sensation. Looks are subjective.

Would be a very difficult decision to choose just one.
I think they are each incredible in their own right.
The raw appeal of the 16M, its full drop top and glass engine cover.
The Aperta having all the latest and greatest technology, double clutch gearbox with lightning fast shifts and the additional power is always nice to have.
I think ultimately I'd go with a 16M. Simply because I have been lusting after one for much longer than the 458 !

Based on what I heard from a couple of people who drove both the cars, the raw feeling of driving a Scud / 16M is hard to get while driving 458SA. Having said that, since I already own a scud, would prefer to acquire a 458SA if I were to add one more F car. On the other hand, if I can own only one car, then it has to be either a Scud or a 16M.

16M for me. I've seen an couple of Apertas and 16Ms but that 430 is just so much more special (not to say that the A isn't!) in my humble opinion. The SA is truely world class in every respect but Ferrari really put their heart and soul into the Scud...
