I remember seeing this car. It still has the original exhaust. I wonder what the % is of cars, that still have the original exhaust system installed? R

Very few, I think, and for good reason! Those Suzy Haymaker muffler boxes were made of mild steel, and eventually (@ 30 years later), they corrode & literally rot away, sometimes from the inside out. I'm sure the mineral-fiber innards are all blown out by now, my notes tell me that particular Downdraft has over 100,000 on the clock. Not only do they look incongruous, they are heavy, and don't sound anywhere near as good as a properly-tuned sports exhaust. I think the latter is more in keeping with the character of the car, whereas the former is simply one of those terrible government-mandated devices. Image Unavailable, Please Login
That tool kit is for GLA12997, but if you need an original jack let me know. Sometimes the Kravm wrenches and other items pop up on EBay, and that's a good way to assemble a complete tool-kit since we know exactly what items are needed.
Impressive work on the rotisserie. What kind of products are you using to build up before paint? And are you painting car using OEM PPG products?
Like most everything, paint technology has marched far beyond what was available in the 70's and 80's, and most of what was used then is no longer produced, nor would it be legal for use in Ca. Thankfully, what is offered today results in a 20 year paint job if done properly and well cared for. The undercoats (substrate) consist of an Epoxy primer, followed by a very thin coat of polyester primer that is to be block sanded, followed by a Urethane (2k) primer surfaced that will be once again block sanded and again final sanded with water. Then an epoxy/urethane hybrid sealer that is close to the final color of the car is applied. Finally the basecoat color is applied followed by 3-4 coats of clear, which is allowed to fully cure before that is sanded and 3-4 more coats of clear is applied. I use PPG and House of Kolor top coat products. I did my Detomaso Pantera this way 11 years ago and it still looks like the day I completed it.
Thanks for the details Brad. I have had the opportunity to examine the unbelievable paint on some of the Ferraris you have done for Jon Gunderson, and, all I can say is keep up the good work.
