    Thanks for sharing.
There is a strange vertical fin right behind the mirror, perhaps practicing obstructed view due to canopy :)

The air intake appears to also have moved backwards and is angled. I would think for decades they used to have a vertical face.
The side pots indeed appear swollen up but the second image seems to show that they are incredibly short.

    Yep.

Look inside their intake on top...it looks like it uses the crash structure as a divider for where the air goes. Clever!

Certainly an evolution not a revolution... Everything optimised a little further. Collectively probably another good step for Merc. Ominous...

Downsizing the pod intakes by increasing the air intake is interesting. Seems to defy logic to add your drag up there, so Merc must be seeing something. Hopefully this ends up as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike :)

They´ve screwed it badly or hit the nail. Unfortunately probably it´s the latter and we´ll see lots of fat air intakes in 2017.

    Best looking car anyway.

It's what we used to call a 'turning vane'. It appears they've all decided to make 'em bigger than prior years.

As already noted in the Haas thread, these front wings are getting silly. I get that they're trying to 'control' the air around the car, but they're an aesthetic disaster to my eyes.

    Cheers,
    Ian

Fat airintake is because the intercooler is in there. Gets a lot of cold air that way...clever.

What is all the new black paint hiding. What new trickery is being concealed?

MB have sort of redefined what a traditional internal combustion engine is in that it supposedly incorporates some diesel ideas and features a precombustion combustion chamber. They've really raised the bar and brought an a$$ kicking with them stuffing it into W07.

The new airbox intake above the driver apparently is linked to the floor. I guess this is a blown floor or something. I fear for the Scuderia.

If no team has any challenge again for F1 I don't think i'll watch this season. If it's a bit like last year, fine...but 2014 esque? Nope I'll be cured for the season.

Surely that means there'll be a slot in the floor then, and that's against the rules?

I'm not sure. On SKY F1 coverage "Ted's Notebook, Day One" pointed it out. You can see that the overhead air intake is divided into three sections. The announcer, Ted Kravitz said he believed some of the air is blowing into the floor of the car. I have been wondering why so much more black paint on the bottom of the new Mercedes and have felt they are wanting to hide something. It seems this may be it.
