There are quite a few gun enthusiasts in the board, but I think most prefer to keep their stuff in the subscribed sections. If you decide to go that route, there very long gun threads in both Silver and Rossa subscribed sections (more so Rossa, though).

    Nice 1911s, btw.

I prefer the Silver thread. I struggle to get interested in rifles, but pistols are fascinating.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Just another, random mass shooting in the US today, this time in Michigan, 8 people shot, killing 6, including an 8 yr. old kid and a 9 yr. old in critical condition.

Or to answer the topics question; no I'm not a gun enthusiast.

    ypsilon,

Please refrain from making political comments here, if you want to go off on that tangent you'll need to subscribe and post them in the P&R forum instead.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Well, I'm not really "on it" per se. I'm not actually assigned to this part of the forum as a moderator, but have reported it to those who do tend to it.

However, I am pretty familiar with the policy on P&R posts made out of bounds. ;)

    All the best,
    Andrew.

    Sorry Andrew, your right.

A forum is just like society itself, you need some rules to keep it livable.

I think Andrew's message applies to religious content as well. ;)

I have a few sig sauer and FNH handguns (about 10 sigs and 5 FNH handguns) and recently added a SCAR 17S to my collection. Hoping to grow my rifle collection this year and next.

I am a huge firearms fan, was a gunsmith for some time. That's a pretty 1911, really interested in hearing what you have planned got the glock. PM me and I can point you in the direction of some great smiths depending on what work you want done.

I have a nice collection of Sig handguns and a few AR pattern rifles. They are all shooters though - no safe queens or collectibles.

Yes, but not in Canada. I bought a 1911 when living in the states. Magnum PI fan. Considered getting more. Ok not to be political, its gun control in Canada, doesn't mean you can't own them legally! The problem is mine is on the restricted firearms list and needs a license. The license is near impossible for non law enforcement and their was some rules, I didn't like. Decided it wasn't worth it. I'll just build a collection when I'm living in the U.S. part time again.

I've got a 2001 USP 9 and a 1996 USP 9 compact. The USP was originally designed for .40S&W and it's a beefy design, IMO. I've got countless rounds through both of mine and my compact is my CCW.

Solid choice, however, if you plan on putting a light on it, then you'll have to get a rail adapter; you might also consider the HK45 compact. The grip will less blocky and more comfy, IMO.

Good read from 2 well-known 1911 guys on the HK45: pistol-training.com » HK45 Interview with Ken Hackathorn and Larry Vickers

The 45C is a decent gun, feels good in the hand. Mags are expensive, rail is useless and the trigger pull is really heavy. If you can pick one up for under 700 bucks its a great deal

Have looked at Five SeveNs at 2 different shops near me in the last week. One is $100 less than the other, which isn't bad, but you can buy 2 Glocks for what one Five SeveN goes for. Definitely on the Christmas wish list. Another shop has P90s. That would be a great pair to have.
