I am thinking about offering a repair service for some of the ECU's used on the FCars. Specifically 360 and older models for control of the windows, mirrors, ETC but not the primary engine control ECU's.

Basically I am retired and looking to fill my spare time and make use of 35+ years experience in design and maintenance of control systems.

My question to the community is there a need for this ?

If I decide to go forward with this concept I will be looking for units that have failed. Willing to pay shipping and a reasonable price for the unit.

    Thanks,

    Brewman

I have a few used units I would send as initial service. the Mondiale gearshift control, 355 heater ECU, and some others.

Yes, and not only Ferrari.....consider other brands that have collectible models (ex I have a Lamborghini Diablo).

I think it would be an awesome service since replacements are getting very difficult to find. You would have the undying love of the 348 community if you could find a way to repair or duplicate the electronics in the climate control panel, for which there are no replacements. Hope you do it and best of luck if you do!

Great idea. Yes, there is a desperate need for repairs on exotic/classic/older imported car stuff. Please include me on the list.

Yes. The only service that I am aware of is in Germany and even though they speak relatively good English it is dealing with time differences, language problems, customs, etc. Very few US-based people know about this service and therefore I think you are right on the mark if you can offer such a service. Why are you ruling out the engine ECU's? Too complex and software based?

I think it's a great idea. Ferrari Service of Bedford has recently started remanufacturing the Digiplex and Microplex ignition ECUs for 308/328/Mondial/TR etc. But other than that I don't hear much about people repairing/rebuilding these bits of electronics, more and more of which will start failing as the cars get older.

I'm still exploring the concept and feel like tackling the primary ECU's was something to be considered in the future. Building a test stand for them would be costly as well as complex. It seems more logical to start with modules that are dedicated to a single operation such as heater control, door locks, etc. Thanks for asking.
