I am very surprised at the results. I think we need to see a few more runs to see how the 488 really does. Some people feel that the majority of these videos arent a very reliable representation anyway. https://youtu.be/kcKizfdvZQ8

There's no way that a 991 Turbo can walk a 488 like that.

As expected. From a roll the 991 Turbo S jumps out. As you reach top end, assuming enough road, the 458 will walk it down. From a dig, it's all 991 turbo S.

Either that or the 911 has been tuned to circa 800hp. As an owner of a 488 it is considerably faster than any 911 turbo I've driven from a roll.

There were videos of a 12c walking a 488 and some people thought that the 12c wasn't tuned as well.

That's what it looks like when people pull a long side my 458 and want to race me all the time, and I just ignore them.

Interesting, I looked at every 458 Italia or Speciale vs 991 T including the 488 above and found one that beat the 991. All on you tube. Either they're all faked or the 991 T is pretty quick, I assume awd drives makes a big diff.

Means nothing. No official timing, no info on cars + potential mods, Porsche hits the pedal a brief moment earlier and you can't see anything after because the 488 is getting lost in the blind spot.

That being said, Porsche mows down pretty much anything from standing or rolling start especially on short distances. And having the engine sit on the rear axle is good place for once putting aside a slew of disadvantages in other situations.

That being said, higher HP heavier cars with poorer traction then usually catch up into higher speeds.

New lambos are up there. I have to say Audi ownership would give me a great deal of comfort to buy a new lambo. Reviews suggest they "handle" for once not just straight acceleration with lots of roar. They certainly closed the gap when thinking of Gallardo vs. 458.

Yet another example of a worthless comparison between forced induction cars. Miss the old days (last year).

I have a 2015 991 TTS and just sold my 2014 458 for an incoming 488. While I can't make a direct comparison to the 488 yet I will say the 991 is much quicker than the 458. In fact the 991 TTS is one of the quickest road cars available today. Using Launch control it will do 0-60 in 2.6 seconds. I've done it several times and it is scary fast. The 458 is at 3.1s I think, and I believe the 488 is an even 3.0s. While it doesn't seam like much time the feeling of acceleration for the .5s feels like a lot. That said I think the video is bogus.

Because of where the engine is, 911's have unbelievable traction, 4wd 911's are even better, as such they launch better than almost anything else and this is why their 0-100km/h times are so low. Once this traction advantage disappears it's a different ball game. I think the video demonstrates this very well.

As you can see the 991 turbo s demolishes the McLaren off the line. But despite this the McLaren catches and passes the 911 pretty quickly. The reality is from a rolling start most of the 911's advantage disappears - I would confident that the 488 would win a quarter mile race against a 991 tts despite the launch, but from a roll, a stock 991tts would not stand a chance. As per stats below taken from the video. The video is produced by a commercial magazine and the times look consistent with what you'd expect.

    0-100km/h the 911 wins by 0.2sec but
100-200km/h the McLaren is 6 sec vs 6.7sec

I agree this is not a representation of the 488, obviously this was not a race and the Porsche will not walk a 488 or for that fact a 458 from a rolling start. That being said, Ferrari is notorious for spec'ing their car based on cherry picked results and sending highly tweaked press cars to evaluations. I think the LaFerrari spec'd performance has yet to be verified with a customer car, most of the number are well off the factory, i.e. Chris Harris. And not to mention the Ferrari test track has a slight downhill grade on the straightaway, not that it would matter :)

Did you record these videos or did you just see them on youtube? With a casual glance at some of the other videos of this 991, shows this car is likely putting out some serious power, you don't walk away from TT Gallardos this easily....

Saw it on YouTube. Didn't see other videos of this 991. But I do think its not stock from the way it performed against the 488

If indeed that 488 driver was on it fully, the 991 was tuned. I have had many 911 turbos that I had modded. They looked stock but I was putting down 600 to 650 awhp. I still have a 996 turbo that make 700 crank hp more with race fuel. With the DC and launch control and an extra 200hp they will run hard. The 488 will be just as easy to add 200hp with bigger turbos intercoolers ect.

As someone who has owned both cars, agreed. The 4 wheel drive Twin Turbo is unbelievably quick (but otherwise boring imo). Even so, the Tifosi will say, "so what". Best
