If I recall it correctly, there was a non-metallic "nero" and a metallic "nero daytona".

Do you need the Ferrari paint code or the PPG paint code?

    Cheers, Bernhard

Here are the two blacks Ferrari uses. PPG code on the bottom, Ferrari code on the left. One metallic and one non-metallic. Other colors have been added since 2004, but the blacks have remained pretty constant.

If I were buying (I already have one, in black by the way), I would prefer to have that flying butress redone myself. Not (only) because of prospects in price discussion, but in particular, because I then know that it is well done (i.e. done by myself ;)). But that is untypical behaviour, I suppose :D.

    Good luck with sale!

    Cheers, Bernhard

    Yes. And?

Not use it and put it under a cheese dome to keep it "original"? :D

OK, I know the Americans are somewhat crazy (mainly in the vintage field) with "original", paying silly money for old tires, just because they are as old as the car and thus "original" .... *loool*.

Would you replace the factory original clear bra foil when it becomes yellow? Then the result will also not be "original" ..... :D.

Finally, if a new car is delivered with a fault (due to warranty), would the repair thereof make it non-original, because parts were used, which were not fitted when the car left the factory? What about recalls (bad bad bad)? What about upgrades (e.g. replacing failing gaskets by better ones)?

    Cheers, Bernhard

P.S.: If well done, nobody would notice, that the butress is "not original", because even the paint layer thickness would be within the specifications ......

im sure you know american ferrari buyers are different from you euro boys.....

this isnt a car he is keeping. it is a car he is trying to sell.

this is how the ferrari sales process works in the USA :

question 1: when were the belts last done ? (NA here)

questions 2 : any paint, bodywork, accidents, clean carfax ?

answer yes to number 2 and you'd be amazed the number of buyers that walk.

Maybe :D, might that be due to the speed limits? If one drives about 250 km/h or even 300 km/h on autobahn - that is indeed possible without endangering third, e.g. early Sunday morning -, even flies become hard like gravel :D. Nobody (OK, almost nobody :D) here would complain about a bumper repaint. With reimports from the US we rather have the prejudice that they are shiny, but typically technically neglected ...

Well, good for those few who do not walk away, because they intend to keep it long term and use it as a sportscar was intended to be used. And can utilize this habit of others to squeeze the poor seller until he is weeping ... ;).

Well, then it makes most sensefor US sellers to get it done properly prior to sale. I would see no need to disclose such a minor repaint, if it really cannot be recognized by the most critical observer and layer thickness measurement. Even the factory "corrected" paint finishes more or less frequently ....

    Cheers, Bernhard

If he is not the first owner, he anyway can not say "no" to the repaint question with full confidence ....

So, the buyers over there want to be told the untruth???

OK, here in Europe I would say that I had a fault repainted, indicate the coarse region and request the potential buyer to find out where exactly. The smart repair fellows, at least some, are so perfect in painting small areas, that is really amazing. The potential buyer would fail finding the spot and loose any argument as to the pricing ... ;) :D. OK, some would try with the "original" issue, but receive the response to look at other cars and be absolutely free to return afterwards for buying.

    Cheers, Bernhard

it either has paintwork or it doesn't.

granted he could never know the whole history of the car before his ownership but he can state what he does or does not believe to be true.

if he paints it..it is 100% guaranteed that it does have paintwork.

this isnt a daytona. its a "newer" car. paint work = a story

story cars are always harder to sell. even if it a good story.

like i said before, you euro boys are more forgiving than these anal USA buyers.

you wouldnt believe the stuff people nit pick over.

:D :D :D OK, if there are enough cars around really complying with those "high standards", bad luck for someone trying to sell a car with a small paint blemish.

Well I often laugh about condition descriptions of US dealers (in the vintage field), when even a short glace at bad photos already makes it clear that the car is correctly rather described as "more or less valuable scrap iron" ... :D
