What are we doing over Valentine's/President's Day weekend in Hawaii?

    Looking at cars, of course.

I should mention, the cars live in a house built for them to be displayed in, on top of a hill on acres behind electronic steel gates. Very modern, high-tech, and lots of glass. We thought it was very James Bond.

1121124 was the car that introduced me to the Countach when I was a kid - and still remains solely responsible for my unending fascination with the Countach. It had such an impact on me that to this day, dark green with gold wheels remains my number one colour choice... despite that fact that I believe triple white (pearl especially), is still probably the most effective colour scheme ever for the LP400 S & onwards.

I replaced the Modern Motor (May 1980) poster on my wall three times over the years as each one faded. Actually, when I used the word 'fascination' before, I guess it would have been more accurate to say 'obsession'!

Yes, the Verde Abete is a beautiful and quite unusual shade of green, rarely seen on 70s Lambos... and almost nonexistent on 80s ones.

For those who still wonder what "Verde Abete" means: "Fir-tree green".

Here, some (already shared) photos of this gorgeous LP400 S #1121124,
plus a few more scans from Australian magazines Modern Motor (May 1980) and Wheels (November 1981):

I wonder if 1121124 was the only Countach ever painted dark green (other than a single Anniversario)?

Actually, apart from black, I have the feeling that very few (S onwards) were painted in dark colours. I have see pictures of a small number in dark blue, a dark brown (DLA12606?), dark grey (DLA12842 [Canna di Fucile], and a few Anniversaios), and GLA12997 of course, but that is about all. Joe and some of you other guys might have a better insight?
There is also 121176, but that was a repaint - I am wondering more about factory colours.

I consider it a testament to the Countach's design that even over a 30 year period, it has always looked equally good in light/bright colours as it does in dark. A lot of other cars cannot boast that...

The main colors were Red, White and Black, especially for S onwards.
I think, for LP400 & LP400S, Red (all shades of) was sprayed on more than 1/3 of the production!
I'm still working on those figures...

Anyway, you're right: whatever the colors/shades/tones, a Countach always looks gorgeous. This sentence can apply to the Miura as well.

About the 'Verde Abete' paint on other Countach, as far as I know, there were only 3 LP400S painted with this dark shade of green:
#1121124 : S2 "low body" with dark brown 'Testa di Moro' interior, RHD, delivered to Australia on January 17th 1980.
#1121338 : S3 Countach, with Champagne interior, also RHD and delivered to Australia as well, June 29th 1981.
#1121438 : S3, with white interior, delivered to Saudi Arabia on January 14th 1982.

After years of research, I could only find period photos of #1121124 (1980-1983).
And I don't know if those cars are still wearing their original paint.

I still don't know if there was any 5000 S / 5000 QV originally painted with this dark green.

However, there was only one LP400 painted Verde Abete, with 'Senape' interior, delivered in October 1977 in Japan.
Unfortunately, it was completely destroyed a long time ago :( (though some people might have some parts of it in their own LP400...)

Here's the only confirmed period photo I could find of this particular 'Verde Abete' LP400

It looks fantastic. Should be more supercars painted green, other than typical British ones...

Well. Do you believe in ghosts?
Some cars might have been destroyed and still be driven every day...
This could be one of them.

And there's nothing wrong about narrating ghost stories.
People believe it or not... it desn't actually matter.
But as soon as you give the ghost a name, he might hear you.

There are certainly some people here who know the VIN. They may dare to write it publicly.
I'm afraid of some of those ghosts... though I like them a lot! ;)
