She looks good enough to eat Joe! Apparently the DD has never had a problem with overheating. Was it purely design choice as to why they changed from no side vents on later models?

The L 507 V4 carburatori engine came along after quite a few years of development of the carbureted engines, its the last of the series, and my experience has been that they are fairly bullet-proof. I think they realized the vents were not necessary, plus eliminating them saved production costs. That's just my speculation, but I could ask Ing. Marmiroli to confirm one way or another.

The first series hoods are more dramatic with the intricate venting, and the second series ones are more sleek and flow with the lines of the car (as shown below), they both have their appeal.

For photography nuts - I'm using a Canon EOS mirror-less camera to document 12997's restoration.

The latest component to be refurbished is the 'Peronal' shift-knob, scratches polished off the face, leather dyed etc

Awesome work. Is this your company's car and going to be resold once finished, or a client's car?

Obviously, Joe is posting Pictures of the restoration process since weeks...

No Lambo at the moment, the only one I'm interested in is a Silhouette but not for the current Prices, I had the chance to buy two of them for 40-50K (40002 and40018).

BTW: Look at the tree in the Background, it's called Blood Plum, a perfect match of Colors

As Raymond mentioned earlier, for your 1,000 Euros, you don't get much besides the chassis, engine, gearbox and diff ID numbers.

The colors are correct in Italian, but wrong in English.

No color-code or special color identification is offered.

I'm sure Raymond will corroborate, there is a story here that is worth mentioning. He mentioned to me that he wanted to sell, and as I typically do, I offered my clients the car first.

When everybody passed, I simply decided to buy it myself and restore it.

I have been involved with some restorations in the past, but they were always like pulling teeth to execute properly. I haven't done a restoration in 10 years, but I saw an opportunity to apply my knowledge & experience and work closely with a great team of people I'd identified, and do this car justice. When finished it should speak for itself.

The plan was to have Raymond help with consulting since his technical knowledge of these cars is so vast, and he has been very helpful in the early stages of the process. He has an open invitation to come and drive it post-restoration. After Valentino signs off, of course.

Again, as Raymond suggested, that build sheet attached to the car's passenger-side fender is somewhere in a file at Sant Agata. I have been told by an insider that files assumed NLA/missing/burned etc are still intact. I hope to get a copy of it.

Interestingly, of all the old images Ive seen, this one replicates the true Bordeaux Speciale (as found on the car underneath the spats) best.
