I came across this : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-7HcOUbWwo Super cool !!! Anyone know more about it ? (Hope it's not a repost. I did a search on this forum and nothing came up)
I remember something about this a long time ago. Never the less it's bonkers. That must have been a huge undertaking.
I was just joking around but I would call it a flat 12. I guess you can draw a straight line and call it a V though.
You are right ! It is actually a flat-12 engine from Ferrari 512TR !! The only other car 348/355 with a V12 I believe was the Enzo development mule that I saw in the Ferrari Museum in Maranello !!
Anything mid-engined and V12 that Ferrari produced after the 512TR cost Mega $$$$$ (see F50 , Enzo , FXX , LaFerrari) So producing a mid-engined flat-12 Ferrari is super cool !! Now , a cheaper and easier way could have been simply buying a 512TR... So maybe he just found the engine, and already had a 355 chassis without engine around... Who knows ...
I wouldn't be surprised if this car performed worse after the swap. Roughly the same power (maybe more torque) with a lot more weight. To each their own...but the engine is one of the biggest appeals to me when it comes to the 355. It's appearance is a bonus.

Great project. Did you have to alter the crossbeam behind the fuel tank to get the engine to fit? We have a 575 engine to go in ours.
fuel tank is everything normal. The 512TR Motor need no more place. But it is higher so the bonnet is rebuilt. Rebuilt the motor subframe. Rebuilt the fender....Rebuilt electric and this makes much problems. Thanks, it is the last built Ferrari 12-flat. For me this is the Ferrari motor. My Maranello is also well, but not so hardcore, like this!
no problem because it is on the rear axle and not behind. I have lighter seats, no air conditioner and so on.... the problem is the typical crashed 512TR transmission, the crashed Differential. I rebuilt the Differential and buyed a stronger new German main shaft. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
