I am not looking to get into lamb so to speak, I just want to try it sometime and see what all the fuss is about and if I will like it. Never had mint jelly but am familiar with it and it seems to be a must with lamb. I will probably make a fully stuffed baked potato as backup over making couscous or tabouli, I do not like couscous and have never had tabouli.

The experiment is always ongoing, right? :D

Early dinner. Did take out at the French bistro. Beef dip and poutine. They have a co-op gas station next door. The bistro serves Pepsi and I wanted coke. The old lady was so rude about me not having a membership, I'll never go to the co op again!

Older people can be a tad feisty, tread lightly. I am so jonesing for a beef dip and some poutine I can hardly stand it!

She was a little overly feisty. She asked for my membership. When I said no. She told me I shouldn't be shopping in their store, but can't stop me because of the laws. Very cranky.

She is probably just really alone and angry about being alone. I have run into this situation before and saw said person again and asked for their help and their opinion or advice fully knowing that they remembered me. I always try too, not always successful though, walk in their shoes for just a yard or two and let it play out. Two ears and one mouth (still learning).

Try her again with an open mind and open heart and you may be surprised.

I can upload pics from a phone w/ Tapatalk. Looks yummy. That's one of the few dishes from a chain restaurant that I would go out of my way to eat - the chicken lettuce wraps @ PF Changs. I have tried to recreate it at home, thus far, with little success…T

Looks good! Rice paper wrappers? And is that just dipping sauce in front of your plates? Sambal and honey maybe? Great idea but I always think of peanut sauce for those type wraps. :)

    Google it!!!

We have a restaurant chain here called White Spot. Its comfort food. Probably one of the first restaurants I remember going to as a kid. Talking I remember going at like 4 years old. The deal with White Spot, they did kid meals before McD's. Way back in the 70's they put the kids meals in a cardboard cut of a Pirate ship, they call it a pirate pack. You get a burger fries, soft ice cream and those chocolate coins. The other hook is their secret sauce. Every time I'm in the state for a few months, I crave their burgers. I found the sauce recipe online. It was close to the restaurants.

I can upload pics directly from my phone not using tapatalk. But for some reason I pretty much have to do one at a time or it times out. I don't use tapatalk at all, just use my phones browser. Seems to work ok?!?

I may need to make a Costco trip again this week. You have me hooked on tri-tip now that I've made it a few times.

My experience with tri-tip was very disappointing, never again. Way to lean and the ledge between under cooking and over cooking is way too steep, I'm a 'point' guy anyway and leave the 'flat' for the dogs.

Me... leave some?! HA?! You must be dreaming ;)

Yup, rice paper wrappers. Two of the small bowls are home made vietnamese Fish sauce that we use for dipping. The other bowl contains sweet pickled shrimp.

Then there are carrot slices, egg omelet strips (home made), lettuce, cilantro, and of course rice noodles.

    ^^^^ "Mongo...hungry."

I am cooking a small 3lb brisket today, she is thawing at the moment. Going to get that smoke action/flavor for a few hours, indirect heat, and then wrap it in foil until spoon tender. I gained 5lbs just talking about it.

We are basically doing the same, although it isn't technically all you can eat... We just always end up getting more than what we can eat anyway.

All you can eat in Hog Town. That brings back memories. 😀 Every Sunday was all you can eat bbq chicken at Sonny's BBQ on Archer Road. We'd pig out, starving grad student style! I once had to be rolled into the back of my friends VW Quantum station wagon 'cause I was so full, I thought I'd burst.

Tonight is grilled salmon, broccoli and Uncle Ben's rice (hey, it was free with a coupon!)...T

Edit - pics. Bottom one is cantaloupe soup = ripe 'loupe + cinnamon + bit of Greek yogurt. Blitz with a stick blender. Let it chill in fridge. Pop in a couple of blackberries for color. Serve. Good with the salmon.

For the salmon. Put some freshly grated pecorino on to instead of salt.

    Haha awesome.

That Sonny's is still here, but just last year tore down their old building and built a brand spankin new one.

Food wasn't as good in the new place last time I was there... But probably the grill just needed a bit more "seasonings"

Technically mine isn't all you can eat. They do limit the amount of sushi and sashimi you can order. Only the rolls are unlimited. The cooked stuff is very small portions, more of a sampler over meal. Its not buffet style, its all made to order. They give you check off sheet and you check the box of what you want. Most times we can't do a second round, you order so many rolls, you get stuffed. Pretty much all the Japanese restaurants do this style here.

Some of my friends and I used to go to Skipper's for the all you can eat fish and chips. Well one of us would get all you can eat and the rest would swap out until we were all full. Only really worked well on nights when they were really busy and couldn't keep track of who had ordered what. Ah, the good 'ole days. ;)

I went lazy today too and grabbed a Jimmy John's sandwich on the way into work. Might just make a Costco trip tomorrow and see what I can find. :)

Exactly. They need to build the grease layer back up! Actually, I hardly ever did ribs there. Just chicken. I had to live in Memphis to know what real proper bbq pork ribs tasted like. Last time I was in Gainesville, my friends wanted to bring me to some fancy joint downtown, but I held out for Sonny's bbq chicken. Think it was one out on Waldo Road...T
