First world problems. 😆😆 Anyway, I will be purchasing the new 488 GTB, but the problem here if i don't know what color to choose from. Your opinions will be appreciated. And this will be my first Ferrari. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Both are beautiful. I went red and have driven a white one quite a lot. Different character is delivered from the color. What will your use be? What other cars do you have?
There are many beautiful reds. Just because it's a Ferrari, does not mean it needs to be Rosso Corsa. Rosso California or Rosso Maranello would look great on the 488. Below is a picture showing the difference between Rosso Corsa and Rosso California. The Cali T shown in the foreground is not mine, it belongs to FChat member Caligirl. The picture shows very well how much deeper and richer the metallic Rosso California on the Cali T is, compared to the flat looking Rosso Corsa on the 599. Some say Rosso Corsa is the colour for your first Ferrari and others say it's the iconic colour it should be. But I think it's overdone and quite boring. The lines of the modern Ferraris loans themselves much better to the rich modern metallic paints. They show the lines beautifully and really makes the car come alive. Rosso Corsa hides the lines and flattens the surface. Image Unavailable, Please Login
What he means is that the colour will change the character and impact the car projects. Bright red, and yellow makes for a very in-your-face and sporty "delivery" of the cars personality and character. Silver, grey and subtle blues like Pozzi, TdF or Mirabeau etc. are much more subdued and can be very elegant and subtle. Black can be both very aggressive or elegant. White is very much a stylish fashion colour that can be perceived as being somewhat feminine so to speak.
I like Nero Daytona. Understated, elegant, sophisticated, stealthy, aggressive. Black helps minimize the visual impact of the 488 side air intakes and makes the lines of the car more unified, in my opinion. Get what you like though, as it's your car and there are almost no bad colors on these cars.
Great read, surprising most people think Ferrari uses red to be 'flashy.' No. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosso_corsa
If your decision is between the red and the white and it is your first Ferrari then go with red. I personally don't prefer red for myself but I think it looks great, so if it made your final cut list then go for it!
Although both my Ferraris are red. I would chose white or white/Nero roof on the 488. I just think it looks best in that color.
My first had to be red. A 430 spider. There was no other choice for me. My GF just bought a white 458 as her first. It was her only choice. But white is very popular right now. About 30% of recent cars are white according to salesman at local dealer. It wasn't popular at all until the 458. I would buy a RC 488 if I were in the market.
I really appreciate the suggestions guys. At this point, I'm still confused. The red one just stands out for me, it's really a head turner and every time i choose another color, at the back of my mind something is telling me that "it should be Rosso Corsa" , but the White/Black one looks so sexy in the 488, it really accentuate the lines and curves of the car. The thing here is that I want the car to stand out from the rest, don't get me wrong I'm not the "look-at-me" type of guy, I just want my ferrari to stand out, look sexy and sophisticated. To be honest, I'm having a hard time going to sleep because of the color! Haha!
Well, l have had three fcars...all Rosso Corsa. There is something about seeing that red while driving that is intoxicating. And l think all fcat owners ahould have at least one red one. You can always get another color later. Red os the easiest to sell. Just do it.
If you were in my situation right now, which will you pick the white/black or red/black? No bias! Haha!
I bought my first Ferrari in a non-red colour because I thought red was overdone. It looked great and I was pleased.....right up until the moment I saw a red one pull up beside me, at which point I knew I had done the wrong thing because of a silly notion that I didn't want to follow the crowd. I sold it and bought a red one. Interestingly, once I had done that I felt able to buy other colours again, though out of the 6 I have owned four have been red of some sort, including two three layer red cars. Go red. You might regret it otherwise. No other brand is so synonymous with a colour. White may show off the lines of the car, but you are buying more than a car when you buy a Ferrari.
Your first Ferrari should be red IMO. Sorry to say but a Ferrari of any color screams "look at me". However I agree that the 488 looks better in other colors but maybe that's just because I've done rcorsa for all my other Ferraris (thus my handle). However, if you go to my production thread you'll see I'm doing white this time!
