It was a lot of fun, we had a very good moment enjoying the road in France and the swiss alps. There some documents and photos he is sharing on his account on the Mangusta and Giugiaro, maybe you'll be interested. Hi guys, what's your thought on the engine preparation of a Mangusta? Is it something that you would also do? Or would you stick to a Ford302? For my friend it made sense because the originale 302 didn't deliver the expectations of a mid engine supercar of the time and because american engines are great/made for that. I am sure there are different opinions about originality etc... Of course that has also implied to reinforce the chassis which was naturally too light. MA1266, Photos of Artcurial. My thoughts are that is one SICK car! Purists are gonna have their say, due to originality/valuations, but dayum!
With the growing values of untouched / original DeTomaso cars, I am inclined to make the car look and feel as original as possible and that includes the motor`s outward appearance. 8MA1266 has a AMAZING engine and unfortunately Retromobile does not promote that aspect. The history and build of this car is very well documented and the car performs very good. Laurent is goning to miss it a lot and will find a big challenge in replacing this jewel in his stable. GLWS
@Mang: Thanks for your appreciation @Denis: Laurent thank you and says hello , it was not an easy decision for hium, it has needed a long time, but memories will stay forever. The lines were untouched, it's certainly one the most striking design in mid engine car, and imho the best of Giugiaro along with the Ghibli, I think that's important to keep the line as original. I don't know what a Ferrari purist will say about a Ferrari prepared by Michelotto, it's still truthful to the essence of a Ferrari. Here it was done by Roush which is a multiple winner at Daytona (the 500 Miles), in IMSA and other competition. It’s not a "simple" tuner, it's a racing company that has a big record. This engine has some pedigree and it sounds really nice , some acceleration on the "autoroute" in France will stay in my mind. I think it’s best of both worlds, the great design in a striking colour, and an engine with pedigree But it’s my friend and I’m biased, would love to hear other opinions.
don't know @cnpapa, are your Mangusta finished? Will love some photo of this beauty when waxed added an interesting view of Laurent's car. (photo from another friend Patrice who is with Laurent at the moment) Image Unavailable, Please Login
That's the one I showed above in different post, it has been sold hammered 275 (you need to add 16% fees +VAT) Laurent was under stress but is now happy.
Thanks, Mike! The car came with two sets of wheels and tires. One set is the original rubber, with less than 3,000 miles on the car. I believe the ones in the pics are the original set. They are some monster tires!
I love the light blue color, stunning!!! Finished mine last year in verde gemma (green metallic) - pics will follow Herbert Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
