    Hello Xan and congratulations:)

See atop the clutch bell housing.

Could you let us know the chassis number: it begins with AM120, I can then tell you what info I have in my files.

Let us know what else you need info wise.

    Best regards,

    Marc

    Hello Hiltsuk, AMLC,

Yes that can't be an even number, RHD cars are odd numbers only. 421 is in Australia so not that one, Hiltsuk do you mean 419 the pale green car from an estate sold in a remote part of England by a small auction company called Lacy Scott & Knight?

Re the price the sellers want asking prices are meaningless and figuring out who has had the most outlandish asking price is pointless, which is why auctions are the real reference points.

    Best regards,

    Marc

The Khamsin has always been a five speed. I know they have been converted in the past but as I understand it a lot of work. My car was repainted locally in the early 90's and I will be getting the story as the owner and shop are still around.
I am missing the long fuse box cover (long black plastic) that sits behind the dry sump canister on the firewall on drivers side, any sources.

Is there another fuse box location?
As I have a smaller black plastic fuse cover that was in glovebox
And not sure if it goes to my car or not

    Additionally
    When checking oil dipstick,?
Should the engine be running and warmed up?
Or can you do it cold as starting in the morning?

What oil and filter do you all recommends..?
    Changed all but that.

I Need a tool kit and Jack?
    Anyone have one?
Also looking for an original radio?
Was there a "factory" radio they came with?
Mine has a newer CD Sony unit,
But has a unique cover, that hides the radio and makes the spot look like twin
Air intakes, but are purely for show.
At this point that's what I got.
I would think the original would be Italian?
But don't know what the manufacturer would be, or
Was it a dealer installed item?
    Thanks
    Thanks

    Hello Andrew...

I am only aware of one fuse box, under the hood, on the driver side.
I am not aware of a smaller black fuse box, so your cover may be for another car.

When checking oil, engine should be running. I usually wait a few minutes before
checking, but not always completely warmed up. I also check the dipstick prior to
starting the engine, when checking the oil, just to make sure there is some in there! :)
You will get a lot of recommendations on oil, I use Castrol 20W-50, and source my
    filters from MIE.

I may be able to help regarding the spare fuse box cover! I will need to check..
I will get back to you...

    Mike

    Hello again Andrew...

Tool kits are rare and can be hard to find. Perhaps someone is hoarding them! :)
Some vintage Maserati's had the vinyl tool cover bag, while my K came with a canvas bag. I am not sure canvas is correct for all Khamsin's.

The radio is interesting. Many K's came with the Blaupunkt Berlin radio. A pretty cool
radio that sat atop a stalk that protruded from the passenger side of the center console.
Look up Blaupunkt Berlin Radio on the web, and you should see some pictures. I don't
think there was a standard radio. These may be hard to find as well!

I will have to check my stash to see if I have a jack. Not sure, so will get back to you...

    Hope this helps

    Mike

    Otto,

I am very happy to report that Campana have found a roll of the original dark brown fabric for the dash.
A friend went there and suggested they look a bit better than before, and voila, a roll of NOS stock was found!

The code for the material is H2100

    Hope this helps!

    Best,

    Jack.

    Hi Marc

Its 415, the car I viewed last February and we discussed. It was owned by a club member who inherited form his brother. It had sat in the garage for about 10 yrs. I think I sent you some pics.

    Thanks Mike and co.
    Great information.
I can see you have lots of experience along with many others who have already been
Invaluable helps. So let me know about the fuse cover, it all helps. Any chance you got a jack or tool set?
I also need the Maserati and Khamsin script from the trunk lid (the chrome ones)
It was removed when painted in 80's, (they thought it was cool) now not sooo

Although old and a little faded! My dash is all original and am wondering is there any reason not to replace it? Since she has seen a color change, a nice one I might add, any reason not?
That said let me know what you think.
If I was to recover the two upper dash pads, how involved is the removal?
Ideally I'd like to do that part myself, liking to know how things come apart and work.
Anyone with first hand knowledge of this procedure ?
    Many thanks

    Hi Andrew,

my Khamsin came also with the radio Blaupunkt Berlin "Schwanenhals" (see pic); apparently it was were stylish at that time :).

Concerning tools, jack and bag: I bought all for app. EUR 800,-- in 2014 at the workshop of Marcello Candini in Italy (Candini Workshop - Classic Maserati Restorations in Modena) but I am sure CAMPANA offers them too (Carrozzeria Campana). The items are NOS or reproduced by Maserati - not sure for that.

    Hello Richard

It took some time to realize, but judging from your alias you are probably the owner of s/n 010 in Canada that we had no news of, and no pictures !
So it would be great if you would share a few pics of your car with us.
    Looking forward.

    Best Regards, Roger

Hi Roger. Yes that is me. Number 4 technically here in Toronto, Canada. I will share some stand back pics perhaps this weekend. It needs it's body done (this spring). Mechanicals almost complete... not been in a rush.. so the long restore is only from my lack of hurry. Will post some pics and progress and next steps/questions soon. Thanks for the prompt... and I thought the K's were shy ;)

Then the question is... Do I replace the carpeting with the same colour carpets... which only look usable in this photo.... or choose a dark brown (nicer look in my opinion).

Anyone know where to get a good current replacement seat strut with the release pin in the centre (bloc-o-lift by stabilus). MIE only has spares from 1973. And can only offer (which I do understand) a one month warranty. $500 ish US each!

That's it for now. Ask any questions you have... I have been a follower of this thread for a while now (and find it of great benefit, along with being an enjoyable read - thank you all!) but now that spring is almost here... it's obviously time to get this machine on the road.
