I meant to mention previously after seeing images of your car at Reims: one year you should consider having the Countach Meet there, you'd get a lot of European cars, and what a fabulous venue, considering all the great cars & drivers that have raced there.

Not a bad idea Joe. Once I've got the UK one sorted and good attendance, I could certainly turn my attention to Europe.

Bordeaux Speciale is really a tinted version of PPG 75006, which as used in 1986 is essentially Ferrari's Prugna Metallizzato FER 306/C, but with the base paint was tinted with gold & brown.

Below is what a similar era (1986) Ferrari in FER 306/C look like, for comparison, this car interestingly with the same shade interior.

Was Patrick Mimran inspired by this color? I'll soon have the chance to ask him.

Perhaps the Bordeaux Metallizzato from Lamborghini's first color chart was a source of inspiration, it would be nice to find out

Surely, Wilhelm Hinghaus never goes above 90!

His is one of a handful of DDs still in the hands of the first-and-only owner, and still being enjoyed.

I would say that the colors aren't given in two languages, they're just given in English with their "name", similar to translating e.g. Verde Ithaca and Rosso Mars to "Ithaca" green and "Mars" red.

I am no linguist but I think in Italian the place name is Bordeaux and the colour is bordò.

Under no circumstances am I going to buy that "red" is an acceptable description for Bordeaux in any language, dialect, or form of translation.

Calling one of the cars below 'blue' is fine, describing the other as 'red' is not. Anything close, 'maroon', 'burgundy', whatever, but 'red' says "I just can't be bothered to translate".

Personally, I have no problem paying 1,000 Euros for this piece of paper in support of the factory's program - providing everything is 100% correct. But the resistance I have towards the factory is really against the culture of 'sloppiness' when it comes to records that has existed since the '60s and still goes on to this day 50 years later! Its as if they simply do not care about recording it's heritage. Making excuses for the factory simply doesn't wash anymore.

As soon as this culture changes, I for one, and many others I'm sure, will support them 100%.

I would really love to know how many miles this German-registered 88.5 DD has, it is imaged all over the place, and has been for years!

Meanwhile I uploaded the Pictures of the Foto Session onto the Homepage, they are in full size, I resized them only via HTML.
She wasn't clean at that day at all, we simply jumped into the car and drove to our friends.

I agree that red is far fetched to describe that color, but that is how it is. Bordeaux red wine is not red either, but that's where name (and color) hails from.

The brand new Nero Granatus is also strange, since the paint most certainly isn't black.

The red wine from Bordeaux region is known as claret in UK, perhaps this is an appropriate translation!

Understood, but, the "how it is" culture of sloppiness when it comes to documentation that Lamborghini is world-famous for needs to be a thing of the past. Bordeaux can be translated as Maroon, Burgundy, even Claret as Ivor suggests, anything but red!

Sometimes these links become obsolete so I'll post most of them here from posterity.

A good representation of the car pre-restoration.

Your friend Andreas is pretty useful with a camera!
