Thanks. That white n largo has 120,000 kms? Must have been daily
I worry the 488 would be nearly as fast- or maybe even faster in most real world circumstances- than the F12 and I'll go with the often used "I like NA better" preference. For me sound is a key emotional component when driving these cars. The 488 seems like quite a stunning achievement but no matter how good, its still not going to sound the way I prefer. I will drive them often, maybe not quite daily, but when the weather and schedule permit they will be driven. That is for sure. The best guess on the upcoming F12 change is that it will be a refresh. Further speculating, I think it will be similar to what they did with the GTC4. I think we will see a still NA V12, maybe a very small power bump, maybe they keep HP the same but give a little more torque (as if thats needed!) or maybe figure out how to get a little better consumption/emissions... 4 wheel steering seems like it will show up also. I bet it gets the SSC also just like the GTC4 gets. I wouldn't be surprised if it also gets the better passenger screen but Im not sure if we will see the nice central screen. I have mixed feelings on that- but overall I would vote in favor since you don't have to look it at and its a plus for the passenger. The true F12 replacement is anyones guess. My guess is we're talking about 6 years from now and likely to be turbo. Right, that was my point in the beginning that you can find a 599 for far less than 225k. I've read that importing a modern car is usually not worth it. I've also read that you'll find an adversary in FNA if you try to go this route. I'm not going to do that but I'd be curious to learn if the above is true or not.
You may want to sort that list high to low and calculate the pre-vat average or median cost among all 63 units. Not a bargain especially if your trying to ship one to the US.
well I have F12 on my brain. The avatar reflects the car I want...I am currently going through the complicated justification/guilt phase....Possible plan...trade the Cayenne GTS in, keep both 458 and F12 in the garage, get a pickup for parking outside and errand/winter vehicle.
Haha, I vividly & fondly remember your perfectly-said "complicated justification / guilt phase" ... Eventually this "guilt" will be replaced by the HUGE grin behind the wheel of your F12
Hopefully I cut a deal tomorrow. This car is at a NJ dealer....supposedly someone is flying in to see it Saturday. Maybe he will have to cancel his flight.
some more pics....This car is dripping with CF inside...which I like. Friday is my day of reckoning. https://www.flickr.com/photos/lotussouthpointe/21524112756/in/album-72157658427901208/
Changing the avatar from 458 to F12 is the required first step. I am no longer trying to rationalize this purchase. I clearly don't need this car...but I want it. It is my dream spec so hopefully it all works out.
I hope you make it a reality. I don't think you will find too many in this spec and the car looks great!
My dealer has gotten back to me with a price and trade-in I can live with. Looks like it will happen. Still need to discuss some minor details. MSRP on this car was $430K. It is the only car I have seen over the past 4 months that is spec'd that way I would want it spec'd for a black car. I'm afraid if I pass, I will never see the same spec again.
That's very encouraging! I really hope it works out for you. I agree with you that this combination will be difficult to replicate pre owned. The black exterior + race seats + CF + yellow stitch + black wheels + yellow calipers.. I have noticed some people are happy to have a Ferrari and are not so sensitive to the details. It could be red or black, CF or no, etc. I am a details person so this stuff really matters to me and I suspect you are the same. The car does look great and if this is what you love then I say go for it! Life is short, eat desert first!
He who hesitates is lost. Go for it. I felt the same way when I found my F12. If I was custom ordering it would have been almost exactly like the one I found. Plus it had a NR X-Pipe & Capristo Exhaust. My MSRP was $428K without the exhaust & X-Pipe.
Looks like I wont get it. Apparently someone left a deposit on the car and is flying in to look at it tomorrow. So he has first right of refusal. Looks like I may be a day late. I will know for sure tomorrow.
Sorry to hear. I know how I would have felt if I had lost my "ideal" car with somebody else taking the initial depreciation hit. Good luck tomorrow.
My importer in Los Angeles County can do it. Since the car was already sold here all it would take is a few modifications and its done. The US F12s arent worth $360K-$400K+ price tag when you can import one for that price. They are falling even more. Guys selling theirs for $230K+ delivery miles. Most American Ferrari owners just use these cars as investments it seems.
Importing and converting a gray market car is a very bad idea. It is not clear if Ferrari would honor the warranty and it will be very hard to get rid of if you ever want to sell it. Not to hijack this thread. Dealers may even refuse to service it. If anyone ever wanted to attempt this they should talk to the dealer first and understand the full implications of such an action.
Just got back from vacation. Sorry the car has a buyer I would have checked it out for you. Were you trading in the cayenne gts?
