Read through the list of options. Am I mistaken or does it say White Rev Counter? Looks black in the photo. Great car and thanks for posting!
Rev counter choices are white, yellow, or red. I don't recall seeing a black rev counter as an option
Did you or do you own a 599 GTO or do I have that wrong? I'm curious how the TdF compares to the 599 GTO. Anyone? -F
Actually, it is easier to read than, say, the yellow version. The reason is that the black version is always backlit, whereas the yellow version is only backlit when the ambient light sensor determines that it's "dark" outside (or if you manually set the headlights to be on).
Pretty sure it's white. Remember these are only wafer thin pieces of coloured plastic, even the new "aluminium" option. Must cost Ferrari less than 50 cents to source
Agree. There was alot of remarks here about black not working as a colour on the tdf. I pointed out very early on that virtually every colour works with the tdf and as the cars are coming off the line this is being proven. It just has such a agressive and massive tension in the design that you can do all colours. Some real cool colours coming soon that are usually very rare on a Ferrari! Will surprise everyone. But the best is behind the wheel! It's just awesome to drive. Temperatures picking up again so let's get ready! PS: F12 M will be magnificent as well.
With or without the dressing, the engine looks magnificent. "I build engines and attach wheels to them". Il Commendatore would be justifiably proud.
Carbon Candy. I love it. I just want the interior trim in the same finish. Matte carbon... why does it exist... it looks like recycled plastic garbage.
Looks like they always mess up one thing or two... Lucky if it's the rev counter and not the exterior colour... this time...
Let's try again! It exists because in limited cars which have a greater use of carbon including more horizontal panels it would be impractical to use gloss due to reflection off said panels. Look at race cars and I am afraid the origin is practicality over aesthetics. I asked atTM if any of the 100+ cars they had specced if anyone requested gloss - simple answer. I agree, it is not as nice but it is both practical and does suit the minimalist interior of this car.
Dear Tim, you seem to explain me that matte carbon is technically better than gloss inside a car. OK So why do ALL production car have Gloss interior finish ? the Scuderia , Speciale, and everything else on the road. Two cars on earth have matte carbon inside : the ferrari 599 GTO and the Ferrari F12 Tdf If gloss is bad and dangerous why do 99.99% of the cars have it ? I think it has been created to fit the grigio opaco roof of the GTO It has been done again on the TDF. I'm really interested in understanding your point. You seem to be amazed that I request something that is so common
Horizontal surfaces is the answer as I explained before in an earlier post and you seemed then to accept! The tdf has a good element of the top of the dash in matte carbon and thus would directly reflect sunlight into the drivers eyes. Thus with matte carbon the designers are free to use more of it (regretfully) without fear of reflection. I also think they wanted to differentiate various cars. I hope this helps.
You are so right as I sit here in grey rain. Strangely enough, whilst like you I much prefer the polished, believe me it would not look right in this car. It needs that stripped out feel that matte carbon delivers.
Ahahahah the english weather blues... It is not much better in paris thoug I think I need to sit in a TDF to make my opinion. And tastes can evolve. I hated Grigio Scuro I now love it.
