2016 NFL Season

As of March 9, 2016 we are officially in the 2016 season.

10 teams Franchised a player each for the 2016 season.

There are 3 kinds of franchised tags. All are for one year.

1. Exclusive Tag
Team must pay the player the average of the top 5 players in that position.
Player cannot negotiate with another team.

2. Non-exclusive Tag
Avg top 5 in position.
Player can negotiate.
Current team can match another offer or get 2 first round draft picks.

3. Transition Tag
Avg top 10 in position.
Current team has right of first refusal to match player negotiation.
Current team is not compensated if the player leaves.

Only team to use the Exclusive tag is Denver on Von Miller. All tags have until July 15, 2016 to negotiate a longer term deal. Most deals are done at the 11th hour.

 

Eagles wiping out all memories and acquisitions of Chip era. Making cap space, loading draft choices...

 

Von Miller will face wr Antonio Brown and retired qb Doug Flutie.

Should be no problem for Von. He can cover Brown and sack Flutie.

 

Broncos are going after Kaep of SF if Brock won't make a deal, they say. Real or negotiating ploy?

 

Brock going to Houston.

Gotta believe Elway had a plan in this event. Apparently wouldn't go over $15 million a year for Brock. Hope he likes the Houston humidity, hurricanes, etc.

Some pundits think Kaep is a perfect qb for Kubiak's zone blocking offense. A mobile qb system freezes the defensive ends in case the qb runs which mitigates the pass rush.

 

I'm not sure what you're talking about; Brock's offer was $16.5M a year for three years with over $30m guaranteed. Not the same as the Houston offer but not that far off. It came down to the fact that he didn't want to come back to Denver. He's still mad about being benched.

 

Heavy lies the head that wears the crown. Now what? If Denver can win with ineffectual Peyton, it's there D good enough to win with someone even worse?

Cool. Thanks. I read that Broncos will now go after Kaep or Fitz. They lost Trevathan & one of the defensive backs IIRC, but any QB would be salivating to play with Denver you'd think...T

 

Eagles signed Chase Daniel from the Chiefs. Should compete with Sam Glassford for the starting job, and if he loses that job will just need to wait a few games before Sam gets hurt.

 

C'mon Man! We Philly fans have enough problems without the whammy put on the QB

 

Tom gets a two year deal for $1 million a year with a front ended $28 million signing bonus.

Reason: if court finds Brady has to sit four games it won't cost him much money plus it helps the NE cap.

Take that commish!

 

Which is great news on both counts. Spending big money in Free Agency is a fools errand.

 

Yeah, good point, Mark. I'm torn though. If I had more faith in their draft prowess I might be less worried. They some some dude from Eagles today, Thornton, don't know anything about him…T

 

I don't pay much attention to Denver, but don't they have a pretty decent running back group? Their new QB only needs to take care of the ball and they may be back to the big dance.

 

How do the Raiders have so much cap space? Has Carr signed a new contract or is he still on his rookie deal?

He's still on his rookie contract for two more years, but good point, they better save cash to pay him in two years...T

Not sure Kaep will work for the Broncos either.
His last two years were poor.
Lots of problems in the locker room. He is not a happy camper.

His tats remind me of a male version of "Blindspot"!

And Cle says they are interested in Kaep...they are the worst pickers of talent in the NFL. They trade their pro bowl players and keep the crap and then they get more crap.
