Ferrari Other | eBay Is this what they usually go for when they first come out? 70k over? Crazy how gt3rs are going for $100-$150k more.
Simple answer: yes. 360s as well as 550 Maranellos to name only 2 were 100K over when they came out. ZR 1 Vette and others - the aforementioned 488 and GT3RS as you have pointed out - frequently command a premium from those who have the money and lack of desire to stand in line. A sucker is born everyday in my opinion. More so for the 488 owner as at least the GT3RS is sold out. 488 is not. Best
The 488 model run is not over. The GT3RS run is. Maybe there will be another run as they did with GT4. Maybe just the GT2 will come out. I don't know. But, the entire model run of 488s is NOT done. If you want to wait in line you can get one specced for yourself. That was my point. Best
GT3RS is not sold out, dealers are accepting deposit for 991.2 GT3 RS, and some say it offers stick transmission. 991R is the one sold out.
No one is certain there will be a 991.2 RS. Porsche has said there will not be a manual RS. Without a relationship you may never be able to purchase a new 488 depending on what market you are in. Randy is right for a couple of years 488's will probably be over MSRP. For reference I own a '16RS and my 488 will be here in a couple of weeks.
100% there will be 991.2. I ordered together with GT4. Will get the GT4 in 2 months (total 5 months) and RS later. When I ordered, dealer offered me 2016 RS at 10k only over msrp from other province, but I didn't like the option. That car was sold in less than a week.
Yes, some people don't or can't wait for an allocation at msrp and will pay a premium to get a low miles 488 immediately.
There is absolutely no news on the next RS...it is years away and a deposit means absolutely nothing.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
How long will this markup for 488s last? Will they be msrp in 2017? I ask because if I trade one of my fcars and get my car in 10 months can I still sell it for msrp after 6 months? Haha
There are no guarantees what anything will be worth in the future. I would put your order in and plan to enjoy the car.
Ad makes no sense....car isn't even delivered yet....dealership is selling and so is the customer....and he spells out some of the numbers in his cell....seven 1 seven 379- three 052....something doesn't seem quite right....classic scam Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The ebay ad clearly states the MSRP as 314K Not a scam. I know the seller. I spoke to him last week about the car. I've seen ads in the past that have phone numbers spelled out. I think it has something to do with preventing robocalls.
I'm sure there's a good reason he's using a VIN from a 2015 California T as well.... www.ferrariofnewportbeach.com/used-Newport+Beach-2015-Ferrari-California+T-Base-ZFF77XJA7F0211975 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
All, Let me clear up what some are speculating. 1. The ad is legit- why do I know this? Because it is my ad. Check out my history of sold items- Lamborghini's, Porsche's, etc. 2. The phone number has some of the numbers spelled out due to companies that scan the internet looking for 10 digit numbers and use that information to solicit. I get enough phone calls as it is and don't need someone selling me a vehicle warranty or trying to scam me into letting them into my computer. 3. The VIN is an incorrect VIN as I did not have the VIN until recently and when selling on EBAY you cannot put all 1's in which is why my original ad was deleted after 24 hours. I trust this clears up any confusion.
Why order a car if you dont want it. Thats one of the problems with the US market. i see all these GT3 RS's for sale on ebay and makes me sick. I couldnt get ordered and I would have driven the crap out of it. Not paying 75 over for them.
Well Ford, this is how the car speculators make money. Order the next "big thing" and then flipp. Classic case here....
Most people who got their RS are expecting for the .2 version not to be released, then they can hammer huge premium on it. My dealer told me, 100% there will be .2 version, and when it's released, you can see lots of .1 RS available like peanuts. This is simply not a limited edition, same like 488. Most buyers now just want to make money instead of enjoying the car. Even now there is a theory about Porsche that you just invest in the hyper car, then you can get all hot models first and limited version (911R), so sell all these on premium, you'd end up with a free hyper car.
991.1 GT3RS is sold out. That's why they go for 285k in private market and 325k in dealer show rooms ~100-150 over sticker. The regular 991.2 GT3 supposedly is coming with manual option again. Will be interesting to see how the .1 GT3 version with PDK only will react to that. Probably can't keep up the aftermarket prices then. One big difference is that RS Porsche models rarely ever dip below MRSP - mostly trade above even after a decade. When 488s currently sell up to 70k above retail it's really just because someone REALLY wants the latest RIGHT now. They'll sell at a discount in 5 years from now (sooner?) so I guess you really don't have to care about that extra depreciation when buying in at those prices. I would assume Speciale and Aperta will hold value better than Italia/GTB for same reasons RS models maintain value. So if I'm willing to shell out 70k or more over sticker I'd go with Speciale/Aperta.
You are exactly right. I paid over MSRP for my Speciale since it is not only an amazing car but it is a Ferrari and a piece of art. I would never pay over for a porsche and I have had many of them. If porsche would just put the GT3 motor and PDKs in the Cayman GT4 and get it over with they can move on to the next big thing.
