"Give them a break." Who? Ford or Ganassi. After all the marketing hype, big $$$ development, high tech design work and subcontract construction as well as so much supposed testing along with the high pre race expectations expressed by both Ford & Ganassi to win I would have thought they might have done a bit better. In any case I am really wishing for a better showing next time out at Sebring as there is certainly no doubt about how much $$$, engineering talent and other resources that are being thrown at the project. From the Detriot News report: "Ford executives and members of the Chip Ganassi Racing team said before the race that they expected to win, but after early troubles the cars chances of a podium finish were all but shattered and the focus turned to simply finishing the marathon event."
"What all new race car wins first time out the box." To many to mention if you consider all types and years of racing from the beginning of time. But since you asked how about these two:The Jaguar C Type that won Le Mans Overall not just some class win with its debut in 1951 and please don't forget the 1972 McLaren M20 Can Am.
Aside from the 2 cars running in GTLM, at Daytona Ford also had a street version on display. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Looks like the new version will have a 18 inch sill to climb over, as the doors really cut in. Has anyone tried getting in one yet? Wanted the last version, but not so sure about this one.
If ingress and egress is priority, regarding ownership, that is a ownership concern making said vehicle just another "dust collector" or unwise purchase. I never entered the cockpit of any Ferrari or Lamborghini that was not a PITA even when I was 30yrs younger, I dealt with it and considered it exercise. Heck my MR2's were just as low after adding performance aftermarket shocks and sping's. Crazy.
I have a TVR and a 308 and BBi, I have no issues getting into or out of any of them. Climbing over a huge sill is a PIA, especially if you are getting out. They got rid of the cutout a major design feature of the GT, from it's inception. Was just curious if anyone has been in abd out if the ned car.
We designed the car to have a very small sill step over Required a rethink on how to do the rocker structure for side impact but made it work in the end Many many little design features like that on car When the full details of what is in that car are released nobody will want a Ferrari or Lambo In the same price range Won't have any of the bragging points of thiscar
The GT is simply stunning. You guys really hit it out of the park. Each angle is better than the next. Mark
I get how sometimes a car becomes hugely popular and the manufacturer made a mistake in planning too small a run (288GTO 250 units). I get even making a few less than the market wants to maintain price(F40 1500 units). But now ford is being Luca's Ferarri and arrogant porche, essentialy working people up to something great and then denying then the chance to even buy one. whats the point of building such a great car, with all the great details if pretty much no one who can even afford one can get one. Its like denying people entry to a resteraunt, counterproductive imo.

'm guessing one of the "bonuses" is the shot taken at Ferrari at the end of this clip: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nVa4mlFZEmM[/ame]
