This 2 owners 15k miles Gooding bbi sold for $297k (buyer's fee included?), recently fully serviced. Wonder if anybody was there or knows the history of this car? Sold price seems low.
Either buyer got a pretty good deal or was there something wrong with this car?

ok...estimate was $300-350k. sold essentially for $300k. not sure if the buyers premium is represented in that sale number?

car looks just like mine but I think the interior on mine is not quite as clean

In 1984, Enzo Ferrari gave a rare interview with Italian television. In it, he said Per me, le machine e come uno figlio (For me the cars are like a son), and in this we see how each Ferrari is special. Chassis 47867 is no exception, imported to the US by a Hollywood celebrity and based its whole life in the Los Angeles area. Under 15,000 miles and just two owners across four decades distinguish this BBi today.

Designed by Leonardo Fioravanti, the BBi was the third version of the Berlinetta Boxer, with 1,007 examples produced between 1981 and 1984. Since Enzo Ferrari did not federalize this, his V-12 flagship model, for the US market, the few that came stateside were personal imports.

Visually, there are a few differences from the previous 512 model: new fog lights at the rear, new white daytime running lights in the grille, and a change to metric-sized wheels and tires. Most importantly, Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection was introduced, and with it, the flat 12 engine developed a more civilized temperament.

Actress Kirstie Alley bought no. 47867 new as a gift for her then-husband, Richard Parker better known by his professional name, Parker Stevenson. He also is an actor, having starred in TVs The Hardy Boys, and the couple was known for their extravagant parties and keeping a menagerie of exotic animals.

The BBi, one of a 13-car collection, was federalized into the US in California. Included in the documentation supplied are smog certificates dating back over a decade, illustrating that 47867 has been dutifully maintained. Since 2004, when the BBi was acquired by the consignor, regular servicing has been performed by noted marque specialist Bill Erickson.

In 2010, not long after being serviced at 16,800 km, the cars odometer failed. The consignor then sourced a replacement unit and retained the original; he attests that the BBi has been driven minimally since.

A major engine-out service has recently taken place, with valves adjusted, and a major cooling system service was performed. All hoses were replaced with an upgraded silicone type and the water pump was rebuilt. During this service many fuel and vacuum lines were replaced as well. In addition, the transaxle was serviced, including a new billet ring and pinion, slave cylinder, and new clutch. Taken together, a picture emerges of a thoroughly maintained and sparingly driven motor car. 47867 is supplied with a complete tool kit, manuals, its original radio, and graphic equalizer.

Resplendent in its original colors of Rosso Corsa over tan leather, with just two previous owners, low mileage, limited production numbers, and fascinating provenance, this BBi is an outstanding opportunity for any collector.

No. 47867, this 1984 Ferrari 512 Berlinetta Boxer was imported new from Maranello by actress Kirstie Alley as a gift to her husband Parker Stevenson, best known for playing Frank Hardy in the 1970s series “The Hardy Boys” and Craig Pomeroy on the 1990s series “Baywatch.” One of 1,007 produced, it qualifies as an iconic example of the flagship production Ferrari of its era, a midengined V-12 Berlinetta of considerable sophistication and advanced grand-touring capability.

In typical Ferrari fashion, the 512 BBi was a comprehensive refinement of the earlier 365 GT/BB, which itself was powered by a big 4.4L version of the flat-12 3.0L Boxer engine introduced in Ferrari’s Formula 1 and sports prototype racers of the late ‘60s and early ‘70s. Such a pedigree virtually guaranteed future status as a Ferrari classic, which the Weber-carbureted 512 BB and later fuel-injected BBi have certainly attained.

A California car from new, this 1984 example boasts the Bosch K-Jetronic fuel-injected 5.0L/335 HP flat-12 engine in front of a gated 5-speed manual transaxle. It showcases the essential features of contemporary Ferrari technology and style: independent front suspension with unequal-length upper and lower control arms and coilover shocks, 4-wheel ventilated disc brakes and Michelin radial tires on five-spoke alloy knock-off wheels, all tightly packaged in Pininfarina’s iconic coachwork and finished in the quintessential Ferrari pairing of Rosso Corsa paint with a tan leather interior.

Equipped for the grand-touring experience with power windows, air conditioning, a Ferrari/Pioneer AM/FM/Cassette radio/equalizer and fog lights, this low-mileage 512 BBi was retrofitted with a replacement odometer when the original failed at 16,834 miles in 2010; the replacement unit now shows 10,131 miles. The champion exotic of its era, this milestone Ferrari offers a fascinating provenance and includes the original owner’s manual, spare tire and tool kit and the all-important Ferrari Classiche Red Book.

I know people are focusing specifically on the boxer market but has anything Ferrari from 1975 to 1991 really taken off like an F40 / 288? Nope. It's like that wedge shaped era is cursed yet they're great cars.
