Foam Cannon wash

I fired up my recently purchased foam cannon on the 430 today- great time!

I recently got one too....Ive tried different soaps, Mcguiers, Adams, and Chemical Guys "Snow foam Honeydew." The chemical guys seemed to foam up and cling better. A couple ounces w/ hot water was enough to foam, rinse and foam again.

What is the point of a foam cannon?

 

A foam cannon will allow you to get a good amount of presoak/suds on the car in order to start breaking down the grime before you take a mitt to the car. Its safer on the paint.

With that said, it wastes more soap and water, LOOKS COOL, and is only good if you have DI water or RO water setup. If you have hard water, its not going to foam as much, and it can still water spot

Some people will use it to add more soap right before they wash the panel. What I mean is they will pressure wash the car, then foam up the top, wash it with a mitt from a soapy bucket, foam up the hood, wash it with a mitt from a soapy bucket, and repeat throughout the whole car. Its a lot more work, but as mentioned, its safer on the paint if the car is dirty.

Now if your car is coated, then a pressure wash, presoak with the foam cannon, and regular wash will be just fine, and faster.

 

I recommend doing the parts that are the dirtiest first before doing the main panels. This would be the wheels, wells, bumpers and door sills. Otherwise, dirt from the bottom will contaminate the mitt before moving to the next panel. I also like to flow water under the mitt to keep it gliding on the foam with the first round as Ferrari paint is very fragile without a coating or film. Would like to have someone take car of the cleaning for me if I knew they would do as good a job. -best

 

Pre soaking the car with foam, I leave it for about 15 minutes then pressure wash off. Then wash as normal with mitt. The difference compared to no foam stage is amazing.

There are two different types. One hooks up to a pressure washer, and the other just hooks up to a garden hose.

The pressure washer type creates the "foam", while the hose just creates "suds".

I've had both,and prefer one that hooks to a pressure washer.

You just have to make sure the attachments fit your model of pressure washer.

 

Bought this one for $35 shipped, looks like I will need to drag the pressure washer out and make sure it starts!

So I got my foam cannon in - with no instructions.

Can anyone help me with how much car wash material to put in the container? Mix it with water? Recommended operating pressure or other tips?

Specs in the ad say 1300-2300 PSI?
